Does anyone know of any legitimate 'work from home' opportunities?

Does anyone know of any legitimate 'work from home' opportunities?

I am moving to Florida and would like to find a job that I could do working from home. I am currently a public librarian, so anything to do with research or information specialists would be great. Actually, I would take anything that makes some money at this point!

To be honest the only thing I know of that would be providing research working from home is if you got a job as an online research specialist at a library and could network into the system from home and got requests via e-mail.

I know NYPL has a thing on their website where a patron can ask a question online and the librarian can answer it. Technically you could do something like that and work from home. But the question is can you find a set up like that in Florida?

Where I work most our requests come in via e-mail and so one lady works from home 1 day a week answering anything she can that she can do online. She's networked into the system from home so she'll let us know when she can answer an e-mail by forwarding us the e-mail.

Other than that...I don't know what else in the librarian/information specialist sector you could do from home.

I have a friend that is a medical billing specialist and works from home and another is a medical transcriptionist and also works from home.

Maybe you can look into those if working from home as a researcher doensn't pan out?

Either way good luck with your move and everything else!

So by legitimate...you don't mean those 'flyers' at every subway station stating:

'Work from home and make BIG $$$$' ???

Don't ya just laugh when you see those? Like if were true, everyone wouldn't be doing it?? LMAO!

Thank you so much for your reply!

I think most librarians that are answering the online reference questions actually work at the library they are answering for and maybe only work a small amount at home.

I would be interested in medical transcription options. I'm not even sure what they do!?

Thanks again!

I have seen so many of those advertisements that make you pay a fee upfront to get started. I am definitely not looking at those companies.

If you find something...let me know! I hate all those companies...if you buy this upfront..we will give you job listing where you can work from home? I don't get it...But I would love to find something to do part-time from home to make extra $$$$

I believe this is what Karen (KMcWed) does - medical transcription.

Karen are you out there?
