Does anyone know where I can purchase an affordable dress? Less than $1000
Does anyone know of a place that I can purchase an affordable wedding dress? Someone told me to try David's bridal but I wanted to know if anyone had advice about that. Do they cap alterations? I am interested in something a line in an ivory color. I was looking at a Da Vinci dress for $800 and saw it elsewhere for a lot less. Any advice. Thanks!

I LOVED Davids Bridal, absolutely LOVED it!!! I went to one right by my house in jersey, had ried on several dresses and when I saw this particular one at davids, that was it!!! I never regretted my choice, I fell in love with this dress, and what happened was it was in an old bridal magaize and when I brought the pic in, it was on CLEARANCE, it was DIRT CHEAP and it was BEAUTIFUL! Alterations werent bad, I think about 250, partly because I had the French Bustle, but I was VERY happy with their service and like I said, I LOVED my dress. I highly recommend davids, I couldnt imagine being any happier than I was with my dress and their service!

I tried my Maggie Sottero on in a bridal salon and ordered it for $640 ($400 cheaper than the bridal salon) from Pearls Place. www.pearlsplace.com www.bridesave.com Good luck!

When you first walk into a bridal salon, tell them what you what to spend and they'll only show you dresses in your price range. Then you can shop around on a lot of good websites like bridesave.com and call other bridal salons to find the dress cheaper. I've heard of people having a lot of success with getting a dress they want cheaper at RK Bridal.

I don't know where you are located, but I ordered my dress in brooklyn. It's a little bridal shop on 18th ave. called Doris. my dress was 750.

Try Burtons in Melville. They are known for their flowers but they have a dress department upstairs. It is small but very personable. My dress was 800 and i really only had to pay for the bustle. My dress fit me pretty good. They also gave me my tiara and veil for free. Plus i think they give you a discount on BM dresses if you buy your gown there. I think they give 20% off the BM dresses.
You can also try Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. They carry more inexpensive dresses than the Carle Place one.

Try the Wedding Center in Commack, supposedly they'll beat any competitors price. My limit was $1,000 also and I ordered mine from Bridesave and it was over $200 cheaper than the Wedding Center and $400 cheaper than other bridal salons. I wound up spending $800 and change for a Maggie Sottero.

Also sign up on www.nysale.com -- to find out about sample sales (dresses are usually discounted up to about 60%)

Try Flowerama Bridal in Glendale. They also have a store in Elmont but I've never been to it. THe one in Glendale on Myrtle ave has a lot of dresses to choose from in your price range. My entire dress- including alterations, head pieace and veil was under $1,000.

My dress was 700-800 w/o alterations. I got it from Adrienne's in Islip.

My dress was Mori Lee and it was less than $1000. Go to their site and see where they're sold (I bought mine in PA).

I got mine under $1,000.00 including sales tax in Farmingdale, Long Island, NY.
