Does anyone live WAY out east?

Original post by AmyKay

My DH and I are born and raised in East Northport, we were trying to buy a house in this area (E. Npt, greenlawn, kings park and the huntington's) but not finding anything in our price range that doesn't need to be knocked down.

Anyway, we are starting to look for a house out east (Middle Island, Ridge, Miller Place, Rocky Point and Soundbeach)

Anyone from there or have moved there?
Like it or hate it?

Re: Does anyone live WAY out east?

I live in Baiting Hollow which is on the North Fork just before Southhold. I LOVE it here. We are close enough to the outlets in Riverhead and the Target, etc, so that we are in touch with the world, but far enough away that we are isolated. You mentioned Ridge and Middle Island. I would look more towards Rocky Point if you are concerned about the school districts. Shoreham-Wading River is a good school district as well. The Longwood school district which is for Middle Island and Ridge is not very good. My cousins are in it and it has a very bad rap and from what I know, there's truth to the bad rep. JMHO. But again, Rocky Point and Shoreham are nice, but if you go too east, you put yourself into the Riverhead school district which is also not very desireable. HTH.

I lived in Shoreham for awhile and loved it. The north shore is great, no matter how far out you are. The people are friendly because it still has that small town feeling. The beach is right there. There are some cute little restaurants. In the fall it is especially beautiful. Sometimes I wish I was still living out there.

My sister and her family live in Rocky Point and love it, my friends live in Ridge and love it. I am buying a house in Selden, I wanted to go out east a little further but my FI works in Brooklyn so that was as far as we could go and people at work told me that it is a great area. Hope this helps.
