I'm wondering where you let the dough rise? What's a good 'warm' spot?

If you've been cooking, put it near the oven or stove, covered with a cloth. You could also put it on one of those cookie cooling wire stands, over a bowl of hot water.
Ideal conditions for letting your bread rise in the pan are about 110º F and 90% humidity. That is the temperature we advise for the proof boxes at the bakery I work at.
You could turn on your oven to a very low setting and place a pan of water inside while you are mixing your bread, just to warm it up a little, then turn it off and let the bread rise in there. Definately get an oven thermometer to watch the temp - too high and it will kill the yeast.

I know this is late...but I do what my mother always did...I put a dishcloth over it and then I put the tea kettle on...VERY LOW...and then drape the dishtowel over the spout of the kettle as well
