Re: Does anyone still have their wisdom teeth?
I would check with your dentist. I have my bottom ones and my dentist told me that they came in pretty straight, so it doesnt look like hell have to remove them. He said hell just keep checking to make sure they are good.

I had the same exact thing - they gums would hurt every few months or so as they were coming in. I decided to get one of them about 2 months before the wedding because it was the one that would periodically bother me the most and I didn't want anything happeneing near the wedding or on the honeymoon. It was a b i t c h getting it out and I was in a lot of pain and I got dry rot after - so it was a pretty bad ordeal - but it's out, gone, that's it. I still have the other three and they have never bothered me.

Re: Does anyone still have their wisdom teeth?
I have all of mine. I had Braces and they pulled 4 teeth alltogether. One on each side top and bottom. When I went to the dentist he was like you should get ure wisdom teeth pulled. You could catch a piece of tooth under the gum and it will hurt a lot blah blah blah. He told my DH the same thing like 3 years ago so my DH got them all pulled. Im not sure what to do One is fully in the others have broken through.

Re: Does anyone still have their wisdom teeth?
I had one that was breaking through like you said and it stayed like that for about a year, it just stopped coming in. So it was half in and half out and 3 days before i started student teaching, it got infected and had to come out!
Since I am a big baby, the oral surgeon (who had done another procedure on me on a different tooth just 3 months before-I have VERY bad luck with teeth) told me that since they were all impacted, i should just have all four done at once because I probably wouldn't come back until they were ALL infected!
So I had it done, missed the first few days of student teaching. I don't recommend that you wait until it gets infected, because it made it SO MUCH WORSE. I have several friends who had theirs out without a problem, one even went to a party that night!
Mine took 2 hours of surgery, a LOT of bruising and swelling on top of my infection swelling...
Go to a dentist. I hate them, but it would have been SO much better had I gone earlier.

I had mine out when I was 16. If you HAVE to have them out, do them all at once or you will never go back to do the others.

Re: Does anyone still have their wisdom teeth?
I've had that EXACT same thing for years. Every fe months it'll hurt and feel like they're breaking throgh and then fine. Twice I've had infections because of the gum overlapping the tooth ..ick..and that was painful, but the dentists said as long as the infection cleared I'd be fine. I've had that for YEARS and no problems whatsoever and I don't plan on getting them extracted unless I HAVE to

Mine came in a few years back and they didn't hurt and I didnt' need them to be taken out. I think it varies on the person.

Re: Does anyone still have their wisdom teeth?
mine came in and don't hurt at all when i was younger, i had terrible problems with my teeth and wound up having 3 surgeries and 19 teeth taken out, most of them baby teeth. but they left a lot of room in my mouth, so i can keep my wisdom

Re: Does anyone still have their wisdom teeth?
I have 3 of 4! My last one only came in 1/2 way then became impacted. I had it removed on an emergency basis..I was talking like 'Cindy Brady' and it was painful. My other 3 came in with no problem @ all.

Re: Does anyone still have their wisdom teeth?
I just got my top and bottom ones pulled on my left side yesterday. I didnt feel anything during the process. It wasn't so bad. I just felt a lot of pain when the numbness wore off yest, and then i took a pain killer and I was asleep. It still hurts today but not so bad.

Re: Does anyone still have their wisdom teeth?
i still have mine too!! One is starting to come in... it's already broken through the gum, but i don't think it is coming in straight... I asked my dentisit about it... and he said there are chances that infection can get under there, but since im a teacher to definately wait for the summer and visit an oral surgeon to get definate advice on what to do...
im a baby too and dont want to go!! I hate the dentisit more than the scary doctor!!! (i need to grow up huh?)

This is me exactly. My dentist said that he could snip the skin if it gets infected again, and as long as I have room in my mouth, there is no need to take them out unless they all become really infected.
