Does anyone think?

T, I've said it to my mom 1000 times...I'm so glad I'm an only child b/c if not, I'd probably end up hating my family like she does... I wish I knew what to tell ya but I don't so have some more hugs.

and--you know how I feel about my father!! So--family doesn't have to get along!

And I thought I was the only one with a somewhat dysfunctional family!

My brother and sister and I get along very, very well. We consider each other our best friends, but I only think that's bc of all of the nonsense we've seen go on in our extended families. So many people have not spoken in so many years that I don't know many of my relatives.

Just like you would cut off a friend that is hurtful or mean, I think you should do the same even if it's a family member. Being related to someone does not give you an excuse to treat them like crap.

Your mom is lucky to have you. Make sure you give her lots of hugs and support...it sounds like she could really use it.

And it's definitely possible. I have 3 siblings and there are times when I think about how we'll be years down the road. The one thing I learned is that it's usually the parents that set the stage for how siblings will treat one another and turn out. Siblings have to be taught from the get go that all you really have is eachother, you are blood, and you should always stick together no matter what. A lot of times it's the very small stuff, and outside forces that effect out sibling relationships turn out. It's a shame that a bond seemingly so strong can be so fragile at the same time!

I think family can be the cruelest of them all b/c they know how to push all your buttons!

Sorry that you and your mom are going through this...no one deserves to get treated bad at all...and when it happens with families...it totally s***s!!
