Does anyone think this is a scam?

Does anyone think this is a scam?

My FH and I went to the bridal expo at the uniondale Marriot on Monday. When we registered, we filled out a raffle form for a free honeymoon vacation. I got a call today from the company that was doing it that said that they picked 5% of the couples that went for free gifts. I called her back, and she said that the gifts were as follows- a 3 day 2 night hotel stay in various hotels (she read off some locations- Orlando, Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Vegas, Atlantic City, New Orleans, and Honolulu. She said the hotels were Ramadas or Marriotts. The next gift is a $500 gift certificate for World of America online gift catalog. The last gift was 40% off of anything that the company that is giving us the gifts sells. They are a houseware company. Here’s the hitch though- we have to go to the headquarters of this company on Saturday at 2pm (we had a choice of days and times). We have to stay for the demonstration (she says its an hour to an hour and a half). They said there is no obligation and that we’ll get our gifts when we get there.

Anyone had an experience like this? Help!

I consider it a scam. Supposedly, I've heard you do get the prizes, but they want you to buy the stuff they are selling at the demonstration.

I got a call after attending an expo that we won a free 3 day trip to Orlando.. I work in promotions and know a little bit about sweeps/contest rules..

Anyway- it was only free hotel and did not include airfare-- but they only told me that after I pressed them.

To redeem the prize me and FH would have had to of met with them for an hour.

People take such advantage of people getting married it's ridic. Besides a three day trip to Orlando would not really lure me in anyway. At least come up with something more exotic if you are going to lie about it!!

That happened to me and we said, Ok mail us the tickets and they wouldn't. We had to pick them up at the office out east. We said we couldn't get out east that particular day. They wouldn't mail it to us. Needless to say it was a scam.

It sounds like 21 century concepts or Royal Prestige. It's a scam. They will keep calling you too saying you won a free trip.

They called me also. How pathetic to try and get us to come down their so they can sell us their business. Like we don't have enough to do.

I was called too after I went to a bridal show by the same promoters. same thing, said we would have to come in on Sat, any time. I said that'd be impossible b/c we both work. She said 'call when you can come in' she gave me her #. P.S. I never called. Neither did she (thank goodness).

Hell yea, it seems like a scam but the reality is nothing is for free.if you want the trip go through with the seminar .it sucks, but the end result is a free honeymoon

It's not really a free honeymoon. it's 2 free nights at a holiday inn (or the like) at certain locations on certain dates. You do get the prize if you go to the seminar, though. And I've heard if you actually buy something you get more prizes. Welcome to LIW

Well, what do you guys consider a scam? We're thinking of going just to see and if its a scam or its lame, just leaving.
