I'm thinking it may be a good idea to get one for our HM to Thailand? What do you ladies think?

We are using one because our trip is tahiti. I usually just book on-line for other trips.

We normally just book online trips, but we did use a TA for honeymoon, also for the same reason as someone else said, we will be out of US and wanted to have someone to call if anything happens. We wound up getting a pretty good deal

FH did use a travel agent for our hm to Italy. We felt comfortable in terms of leaving it to someone to arrange travel/hotels/mini-tours b/c we are not familiar with teh price. of course we did our own price checks for everything beforehand.
i would use one for asia only because their rating systems vary greatly from ours. so a 3 star for us might be like a 5+star for them. this again depends where you go to, i'm sure the larger cities vary greatly. also, you might miss out on great tourist stops or find it easier to get into a tour, etc. through a travel agent.
if you don't use one, just do tons of research on your own and be ready for anything. it definitely can be done on your own if you take the time and research it all.

I priced my honeymoon on several websites (expedia, travelocity, etc.) and thought I had gotten it down to a pretty great deal but then I called my TA and we ended up getting the same hotels with better rooms (deluxe ocean suite vs. garden room), all-inclusive deal, and one extra day and it was still about $700 less than when I priced it myself! I've used the same TA for 3 different vacations already, and he's extremely knowledgeable, very sweet, and always comes through! (tom@liberty travel-garden city)

Nope I've gotten so used to doing everything myself even family and friends ask me to find stuff for them and book...
