I work nights from 11p-7a five nights a week asan RN. I don't think I can continue that when my husband an I start a family. I would like to do a 12hr night shift for 7p-7a and work 3 nights a week. It is really hard sometimes I can't sleep during the day hours when I get home from work. But they say sometimes you never get used to doing the night shift.
I'm training for a new position so I'm working days right now but my permanent position is on nights. I'm also an RN I work 7p-7a 3 nights a week with a 4th night once a month. I've never been a morning person so I like nights plus my husbands a big time snorer so I sleep better when I'm in the bed by myself! I just pull the drapes closed and it stays dark in the room. As far as child care goes when we start a family so far I'm thinking working PT nights will work best since DH will be home at night when I'm working and I'll just need to find someone every once in awhile to watch them for a few hours while I catch up on sleep. It sounds good right now but we'll see how it works out.

My husband works 11 - 7. I am a teacher and work 8 - 4. Right now we have a 2 year old. Hard, difficult, but not impossable.
Im also an RN, I work 7p-7a 3 nights a week. It does get tiring a lot of the time, but I am not a morning person, so I couldn't get up to be at work at 7 am. You get used to it, and its not like you have to do it forever.
I teach adult ESL two nights a week from 7-10 in the continuining ed program of my old school district.
