Does it give the wrong impression.....

Does it give the wrong impression.....

To have an envelope/card box at our engagement party? I plan on decorating a white square box with pictures of us...sort of like each side is a diff scrapbook page.....but it will have the slit to put cards in it if people bring them.

Is it tacky? Does it suggest that we EXPECT gifts? If so, I dont want to give off the wrong impression. I just thought it would be nice to have it there for the ones that do bring a card.

Suggestions?

It's your engagement girl...do what you want!!!

But I personally have never seen this at an engagement party.

I don't know how many people will end up bringing cards especially if you are registering somewhere.

Well we really didnt register legit yet because we figured that was mostly for the Bridal Shower, but we do have a basic registery...we just didnt announce it.

I didnt think that many would bring cards or even gifts but I was just at my friend's eparty this past weekend and she had one....it was filled.

HTH = Hope That Helps

I think it's ok to have a card box...we registered for a good amount for the engagement party. Most people bought off of that but we did get a bunch of cards too...that were just lying around. So a card box would be a good idea.

For me personally, I wouldn't do the card box, I would much rather go and greet the guests and personally thank them for coming and for the card. Since it is a smaller party than the wedding I think that its really important to take the time to thank them for coming, and you will have more time to spend with them since its not your wedding day But, thats just me. If you want to do the cardbox, then do it! I think that since it will be decorated with pictures of you and FH it will be a nice touch too! So even if not all the guests realize its a card box, its a great personal touch and may even be a conversation starter! HTH
