I have 2 BM's that live out of state. My 2 girls up here are ordering their dresses tomorrow. I know that the 2 out-of-state BM's can get measured where they live, have the measurements sent up here, then order them all together to ensure that they come from the same dye lot. Doesn't this seem like a pain? B/c then they would have to come up for fittings instead of getting them where they live. Do you think this whole 'dye lot' thing is true or just hype from stores that want to sell dresses? My dresses are a very light blue, so I don't know if it would make a difference anyway. What do you think?

Re: Does it really make a difference??
Good question...My maid of honor and JR bridemaid ordered their dresses from different stores. To be honest, I'm not that concerned about it..but if it worries you, your girls should order it from the same store

Re: Does it really make a difference??
I have heard and wondered the same thing. Then I was in my friend's wedding this past June and we ordered our dresses at different times and from a catalog and they were the same light lilac...bunch of crap if you ask me. Maybe when it comes to dark dresses...? I think they say that so you get all the dresses at the same time and up the commission

Re: Does it really make a difference??
My out of state girls all ordered from a shop here and had their dresses altered by their local seamstresses.

Re: Does it really make a difference??
I had two out of town bridesmaids. They sent their measurements up here, but when the dresses came in I mailed them and they had their alterations done in their hometown. Mailing the dresses was a pain and a bit expensive, but it can be done if u want or maybe the store can mail them for you. HTH.

Re: Does it really make a difference??
My cousin did the same thing as the previous poster. We sent our measurements (my cousin lives way upstate and the dresses were significantly cheaper up there) and then my cousin picked up the dresses and brought them to us when they came in and we had to take care of the alterations which was no big deal.
As for the dye lot situation, I don't really buy that. How different can the color really be? And even if it is a slight shade off, is it really going to be noticable? I don't think it matters.

Re: Does it really make a difference??
I really have no idea if the dye lot makes a difference, so I didn't want to take any chances. We're ordering off of NetBride and all of the dresses will get shipped directly to my girls. One is in London and the other is in Wisconsin. This way I don't have to worry about mailing them out myself.

I had 2 out of state BM. One got her dress in WA and the other sent in her measurements and came 2 weeks before the wedding to get fitted and pick up her dress. Thier dresses were also light blue, the WA Dress color was the same as the rest of the girls. HTH

Re: Does it really make a difference??
It didn't make a difference to me and it turned out fine. All 3 of the ladies in my bridal party ordered their dresses from 3 different stores (they all live in different states). My BM dresses were wine colored - they all looked beautiful and I could not see any difference.

They could be slightly different.
Ask yourself, if they ares lightly different, would it matter to you. That's what's important.
I ordered all of the girls' dresses at once just to know that is was one more thing I could check off the list.

This is what I'm doing as well with my 4 OOT bridesmaids. They sent their measurements into the shop on LI and ordered over the phone. Then when they came in the shop sent them directly to each of the girls so they could get their alterations locally. I've done it too as an OOT bridesmaid and it's not too bad.

Re: Does it really make a difference??
Thanks for all of your feedback ladies! I'm still not sure what to do about this. I'm really not that worried about the dresses being different shades. Since the color is so light, it probably wouldn't be that noticeable anyway. I just want what is easiest for everyone. I might be nervous mailing them, what if something happened to the package??

Re: Does it really make a difference??
I had 2 girls out of state & 2 out of the country. I ordered them together because the dye lot can very. We then shipped them to all of our OOT girls & let them get it altered near them. We pressed the dresses in my bridal shop here the night before the wedding.
It worked out pretty well.
