I am not having a dasis. I am having them sit all together (since I am having a small bridal party) with their guest or significant other.

This is a persona choice. I want my BP to sit with their guests so I am not having a dais.

Re: Does the bridal party still sit at?
depends on the hall and the set up
our hall has brian and i sitting by ourselves with these huge wicker chairs (i hope he fits in them LOL) and our bridal party sits on each side of us at there own table so they can sit with there dates. the ladies on i think my side with there dates and the guys on his side with there dates.
i think our table is called the sweetheart table.
(my only issue is, the matron and best man are married to each other, and i have a bridesmaid that is married to one of his groomsmen so which side would they sit on since the girls are on one side with there dates and the guys are on the other side with there dates and i have the best man who is married to the matron and a groomsmen who is married to a bridesmaid)

Re: Does the bridal party still sit at?
They are sitting at probably 2 tables. FH's brother is BM and he has 3 small children and I know my FSIL will NOT sit without him because of the kids. I don't want my friends to have to sit with them so I will probably put him with FFIL. Then another GM is married and the other is engaged so I don't want them to have to sit apart since they know no one else at the wedding. Plus I think they will have a better time

Re: Does the bridal party still sit at?
My bridal party was split among four tables, so that they could sit with the people they would want to be with most. One table for our high school friends, one for his college friends, one for my college friends, and one for my brother/family friends. Considering two of my bridesmaids traveled for the wedding, I knew they would be much more excited about getting to be the friends from college who they hadn't seen in a long time then to sit with strangers they just met. Of course if your whole bridal party knows each other and is friendly your decision would be very different!

No Dais for me either! I am having BP sit with their guests together at 2 designated tables. I've been in too many wedding parties where we sat at a dais and my date would have to sit with strangers...it was just a pain.

Re: Does the bridal party still sit at?
I think a Dias is a very 'old' thing to do. Do a sweetheart table instead, and let your BP members sit with their friends/spouses/dates/family. Everyone has a nicer time that way. People will know who your BP is buy their attire, no need to put them on a display.

Re: Does the bridal party still sit at?
I MUST be a very 'OLD' person then at my prime age of 25.
I want them to be on DISPLAY! on the stage with their dates.. Their dates can sit with them. and I don't think it matters where they sit.. Anytime we have a party they know its a GOOD TIME!
I guess we can all have different things.. Doesn't mean its not nice or right!

Re: Does the bridal party still sit at?
brian was best man for his dad when his dad renewed his wedding vows in church and i got to sit at the dais.
there was only brian as best man and his half sister jody as maid of honor. it was cool sitting at the dais.
when the DJ did the annoucements he said 'the best man George's son, Brian being escorted by his girlfriend Melissa (we werent engaged at the time)
it was cool.
but i think for our BP we're going to have them at tables on each side of us and sitting with there dates

No dais for me either. My bridal party will be at the first table on each side of me and FH, with their guests. The girls will be on my side with guests and the guys and guests on his side.

Re: Does the bridal party still sit at?
Theresa, I don't think Michele was calling you 'old' fashioned or anything. She was just implying that the idea of a dais is an older idea, and it is the truth. The idea of a dais went out in the 80's...and a lot of people just don't do it anymore. I personally felt uncomfortable when I was seated at one, because it makes for the entire bridal party sitting in a line with everyone looking at them eating. I was not the only person who felt that way...it's kind of awkward. Granted, it's a nice sentiment to want to put your friends on display, and if you are comfortable with it, and they are too, go for it!
