I feel like I have conflicting themes. i originally wanted to go for a sort of '1940's Havannah' feeling, but fiding palm trees for centerpieces, and an appropriately themed card box (we were thinking of a bamboo suitcase, with all vintage travel stickers), is proving to be a bit much. An easier CP would be these great potted orchids. Would the birdcage make itr feel too Asian? My BMs are in palm green, and I really don't want a bright tropical feel. But my favors/ seating cards are surfboar ornaments. Does this feel like 'South Pacific'?
the surfboards def remind me of Hawaii... i love the orchid idea, but i'm not sure if they're appropriate, they seem polynesian to me with the orchids. If you want smaller palm trees, there are these plants called sago palms you can get them at home depot @ $20 a pop. They're shorter and wider. So nice. i just got one for my place... what a glam idea though, you should definately have a cigar bar...

I love the orchid pic, because that was the inspiration for my table settings...
anyhoo I think it creates a feeling more than a theme. And I think it's a good feeling.

Thanks! I will definitely check out the Home Depot palms, though! The issue is whether they will order them for me, or if I have to kind of HOPE that they are there 2 weeks before my wedding. Theres big surf in polynesia, so I figure the surf boards still work, but I'm glad you got a Polynesian vibe!

Thansk, Laurie! It's a good feeling, I like that. I feel like the earthy but tropical feel goes with the decor of the room more, here's a pic:
wowsers. Hamlet Willow Creek is NICE! I hope i didn't offend you with my previous reply, but i thought you wanted a 40's Havana, Cuba vibe...
I also read your other post on BHB re: your centerpieces. Definately check out Home Depot... I got an phalenopsis orchid last weekend, it had 2 branches with 5-6 blooms on each branch for 21.99!
Make sure the retailer can get phalenopsis for you at the time of your wedding... they only produce them certain times of the year... i think around the winter months. i know the sago palms are year round.
GOod luck!

Oh- nno- I was not offended at ALL! Totally wanted the Vintage Cuba theme, (I was TOTALLY going to do cigars!) but I fell in LOVE with the asian birdhouse, and surfboards are a definite must, so hence, Polynesia was born... But warm, earthy polynesia. Thanks for the tip on the type of orchid, I will definitely ask! And I want to still check out HD for those palms!
