DOES THIS MEAN NO MORE LIW FOR ME

Original post by shamma

Employee usage of the internet

Effective October 1, 2003, the Firm will implement an electronic activity policy that will affect employee usage of the Internet. The Firm will block access to external personal e-mail accounts (e.g., Yahoo, Hotmail and AOL), block instant messaging and filter access to inappropriate websites. Such restrictions are required to meet regulatory, IT security and HR requirements.

This policy does not impact your ability to continue to use search engines (e.g., Yahoo, AOL and Google).

If you have any questions related to this policy, please contact the Compliance Department.

The talk is that its porn, gambling, sports etc. We do not have access to any IM features. I am not the least worried at all. If I cannot get on, I cannot get on. Its not the end of the world. I will get on when I get home after the gym. I know how to reach the people I need to reach.

Shamma you can't leave us!

Many Companies are doing this though - I know mine has a full written IS/Communications policy on it that we sign when first hired and everything I've seen a ton of people with IM too - that I don't have.

How sad that a company doesn't consider LIW important to your job We don't like your company anymore!!!

Michele, if only they knew that I get most of my work done quickly b/c I want it out of the way to get to LIW, this is my motivation for working, nothing to motivate me now, I might not get any work done
