We do that and we add a bag of frozen fruit to it, like the berry medley or the frozen strawberries. I love that punch!

Actually a co-worker (who is also my MOH) makes it all the time for b-days at work (minus the champagne) But when she makes it at home, she uses Asti Spumante, said it's the best for punch!
