does your DH/FH give you a hard time about..

buying new clothes or shoes? Mine does....he is a tightwad LOL. When we didn't live together it was easy to hide stuff but now it is not! I want to 'nip this in the bud' I am not out of control spending but come on now, everyone needs a few new things now and then.......how do you guys deal with it?

Roger says he does not know how many black shoes one woman need, he said I must not get anymore shoes until I give away some of what I have My new obsession is hats, he asked does that mean you are giving up shoes I think the man has done lost his mind No hard time just comments.

Shamma, mine does the same - if I buy a new pair I must surrender another pair. And he doesn't understand that different outfits require different shoes. And that women cannot go to work and mix and match 5 pairs of khakis with 5 pairs of shirts like he does LOL we require the outfit the shoes the bag the accesories!!

FutureMrs......Mine is the same way.....I have a lot of tricks of the trade....

When I get new shoes...I keep em' at work and get the bottoms a lil' scuffed before I bring them home that way they don't look new!!!!

I will roll shirts and stuff up and put in my purse.....

Or if I am ordering online - I have it sent to my Mom's house.....

FH is a bit of a tight-wad too and although I'm not spending HIS money, he still get's worried!!! haha!

LOL Sage you are a master at this! I do the same, have it shipped to my Mom. Or I take out cash instead of charging or using the debit card. Because he is like a HAWK with the debit/credit cards!

FH doesn't understand that I NEED 17 different pairs of flip flops! I'm completely addicted to them - I have ratty beach flips, ratty pedicure flips, cute BBQ flips, dressy, high heeled night on the town flips, bejeweled flips, cloth flips, rubber flips....
polka dotted, striped, cartooned, plain....

I love each and every pair equally and he gets so frustrated!!!!! (They take up a lot of space)

since I manage the money- I am the tightwad!!! We both get what we need but do not go overboard. Now that we are married I notice I am a lot more careful with 'my' money since it is now 'ours'... I had a mini $300 splurge a few weeks ago and that should take me right through summer- then another $300 spurge in fall and that's pretty much it- pathetic...

Maybe when we finally get a house, we won't have to be so skimpy, but you never know!

It's not pathetic at all! I was thinking of budgeting ourselves for each seasons clothing as well. That way when you find yourself holding up those $100 pair of shoes, you ask yourself do I really need these, or can I get the ones next to it that are $50 on sale and have another $50 left over for that cute skirt. The same concept as Weight Watchers, when you are counting points. Is that cookie worth foregoing dinner??

You will have an easier time with the transition into parenthood. When you really have to say to yourself these pair of $100 shoes or cute clothes, diapers, etc for baby? Esp. if money is more tight due to one less income. This happened to my friend. She loved spending money and had the best of everything (never bought shoes from no place but Nine West). A baby comes along and she is spending her days in Payless. :)

the amount of black t-shirt's I own. He doesn't understand why I need 10 little black t-shirts (same cut, nothing on them).

He does have a point though.

I think I will hide the one I just bought today.....

If it's tight or has a high heel...I can get away with it (doesn't matter how much it cost).

Otherwise, if I'm within my monthly spending budget, he doesn't care.

Kim that is hysterical....I hear the same thing....all the black tank tops have a different cut...v neck, high neck...etc...they dont understand. The same with black pants...he doesnt understand I need casual work ones, going out ones, weekend ones, etc...you can never have too many!

Also shoes and hanbags....he just doesnt get the fact that I need more than one pair of black and one pair of brown...hello there are different styles...

Chloegirl- I try to explain that there really aren't 2 of the same blacks. Like if I want to wear black pants and a black t-shirt, the blacks have to match exactly. I was cleaning out my drawers once and his jaw was on the floor. He goes, 'All this time I thought you wore the same shirt all the time.'..lol

Luckily he is pretty fashion conscious, so he doesn't comment on the 10 pairs of black pants I own, he can see how those look different. MEN!
