Squash every idea you have??? It's so annoying - every idea I have he complains it's too much $$$. First of all- he doesn't know how much stuff costs anyway, and second they are just ideas - I'm not running out and buying everything I think of!! ARGH!!!!!

It;s actually the other way around for me.. He is much more willing to spend money than I am.. He grew up slightly more uh, 'privileged' than me.. While I want stuff, I am rational and choose to spend only what I need to to get what I want.. He'll spend money all day!
Perfect example- After Party- it's another 5 grand- he really wants it, so we are saving for it- amongst other things.. I would be ready to omit it, although I do want it, but it is just so much extra- we are already spending enough money!

A lot of the favor-related ideas I come up with I'm told are 'unnecessary.' I just tell him that if we're going for 'necessary' all we need are the 2 of us, a justice of the peace, and a witness. It's all relative.

imo..
cameras have to be on the list
we seem to work everything out and know what we are thinking... it gets to a point that we say the same answer at the same time (sharing a brain)

It's the opposite for me. I am much more willing to spend more $$ than him. I live in the land of 'living beyond my means.'
Our latest heated discussion was about offering a 'hospitality suite' for between the ceremony and reception at a hotel. I think it is a very nice gesture, and she says screw 'em - we have never been to a wedding where people did that for us, why do we have to do it?

Mine is more in the Randella camp. He has more $$ than me so with him it is like every single thing 'Why are you worrying about this -- why don;t you hire a planner to cover this or a person to do that?' We should 'get someone to worry about this or that' -- I want him to get that it is my wedding and that is why I want to put in those extra little touches,

I think it is a really nice gesture- and if you want it, then you should save the money for it. We put together a budget before we did anything. Everything we did had to come out of that- so we cut costs here and there to free up money for other things. What we didn't come up with- we are saving for. I think it is a good approach.

FH just tells me to do what ever I want - he does roll his eyes sometimes though. On the other hand - I am the idea squasher! I just hate all of his ideas so I say no to all of them. This post actually made me realize maybe I should say OK to at least one of his ideas (but it wont be the break dancers or the Pilgrim theme)

FH is the same way!! He'll put down my crafty or artsy ideas...unless he thinks I could make a profit/business out of selling things!! He would pimp out my services before using them for our own wedding!
He did just agree to a candy buffet! We probably can't afford a Vienese hour (and I am not sure if I even want one) but we both like the idea of a candy buffet! Whew!

We're not having the vienese either, but our hall has pastries and chocolate dipped berries on the table and there will also be a sundae bar. I wanted a little something extra too, so I'm giving out candy/loot bags as the guests leave. FH thinks it's kind of lame, but I think it's nice to give them something for the ride home.

He thinks having the hospitailty suite is excessive. I haven't even looked into how much it would be b4 he squashed the idea!

Re: Does your Fiance.....
Oh yeah - at first he didn't want a videographer and not because of the $$. He just didn't want someone in our face the whole time. I was ready to battle it out. Then someone in his office got married and told him the best thing to do is get a videographer, since it goes by in a blur. Next thing I know he is calling videographers, LOL.
The biggest battles we had were the table cameras and the STDs. Again it isn't because of the extra expense, but rather the need. He felt both were excessive and unnecessary. Let's just say in the end -we sent STD cards and have table cameras!

Oh my god, I'm in the same situation! I could mention something that I think is interesting and he'll be like, 'ooh, let's get it.'
