Does/did your DH smoke?

Does/did your DH smoke?

DH had really cut down to about 3 a day...but now he is smoking more (he is stressed out)

but then I start to think...If I can't smoke...he shouldn't either...right?

did your DH smoke? or did he quit?

DH says he will quit if I am PG...but he says that he is quitting every day

I know its wrong of me but I MADE FH quit. I gave him the ultimatum of me or the cigs. I don't want my baby growing up with the risk of any problems due to ciggarette smoking. He quit over 2 years ago.

Rob didn't smoke when we met (he had quit a few years earlier), started smoking before the wedding (stressed out smoking ), quit after the wedding and started smoking again when we started working on the house in November. He promises to quit after we are done, but I honestly hate it! I would give him a good kick in the a55 if he doesn't quit by the time we TTC.

I think smoking is bad no matter who it is if you are trying to TTC.

Mine smokes and I hate it. I grew up in a house of smokers and swore I wouldn't marry a smoker and here I am.....He says when we have kids he will cut down...he wants to quit but it's so hard.

If he is still smoking when we have a baby he will have to go outside, no exceptions!!

Joe still smokes, although he's cut down because he's not allowed to smoke in the house, nor anywhere around me!! I used to smoke, had quit for over 7 years and then started right before I met him. Since he smoked, I didn't quit again until I found out I was pg the first time and I haven't missed it since, nor do I have any desire to ever do it again!!!

I've asked him to try and stop and I know he's a nervous wreck right now, but I think once the baby comes, he'll stop. I hope!

FH has really slowed down on his smoking. He slowed down dramatically when the prices went up. I don't mind it. But I do mind if we are in the car and he doesn't put the window down to air out the car. I HATE the smell of settled cigarettes anywhere. It reminds me of bar scum. UGH!! Sometimes his room smells like that. So I walk around with Lysol spraying like a mad woman!

My DH does not smoke. He is very protective of the whole smoking thing too. He won't even let his mother come to our house if she plans to smoke. He tells her she better quit or she is never going to see her grandchildren. I can already imagine how its going to be when I am preggo.

I have not dated a smoker since I was in High School. It is just plain disgusting.
After watching my grandfather and my grandmother die of lung cancer less than 5 years ago I downright refuse to tolorate it at all in my home or in my life. My brother and mother still smoke (I guess my grandmother begging the Virgin Mary to take her life was not enough incentive for them to quit) and I have told both of them that I will NEVER go through that again. They do not even smoke on my property.
I am probably one of the most anti-smoker people out there.

DH smoking? Never has, never will.

Michele Just envisioning what that was like makes me want to I know I told you this 5 years ago, but I will say it again, I am so, so sorry your Grandma died that way.

Michele..I totally know what you mean!
My grandfather died of lung cancer when I was 13. We lived with him and I swore from that day on that I would never try a cigarette and I didn't. My mother has emphysema and can't get up a flight of steps with gasping for air and needing her inhaler. She finally quit 3 years ago and soon as she realized how serious her breathing problems were.
My DH's family and most of my family and friends are smokers but we are not. I know I am going to have issues with his parents when I get pregnant. I will not tolerate smoking in our home, car or anywhere my children will be. I will have problems going over my in-laws house because I can just see my mother-in-law puffing away ....

I am so sorry about your grandparents..

Why do you tolorate smoking in your home before you have children? Second hand smoke can effect your lives, in many years to come. so while you may not have children now, you could be endangering your life and your children need you to be healthy for a long, long time. Also, getting people used to a no-smoking policy now will help you in the future- why wait?

The haven't come to our new apartment yet..my family and friends know and respect our wishes. I just have to be firm when they do come over to visit!

Steve's mother died of lung cancer when he was only 9 he swore that he would never smoke or marry anyone that did

I have never smoked. DH use to smoke-he said he was never a heavy smoker but stopped quite a few years ago. He's never done it in front of me but he has on occasion since we've been together and I told him I'd never try to change anything about him BUT I cannot stand smoking. Both our fathers died of lung cancer and I just hate everything about it.

I know someone who is PG right now and she smokes. I love her but I have to end conversations with her because I've heard her smoking on the other end. It kills me, that is so detrimental to the fetus. Also, we know else someone who was pg, after trying for a long time, taking fertility drugs, the whole nine yards. She finally got PG and DH saw her one day-smoking! He is not the type to push his opinions on people but he said something out of shock she cut him off with the 'Dont give me a lecture' line. She now has a healthy baby but she ended up with placenta previa at the end of her pregnancy and had a couple other problems. Ugh! I can go on......

Like a chimney!!! I HATE it!!! I used to smoke so I don't mind actual smoking. But there are days that he can fill an ashtray & to me that's beyond gross!! Hopefully he will quit!! He promised he would!

Hubby NEVER smoked in his life, it was ME who was the smoker and I used to gets threats from him all the time! I QUIT about a month before I got pregnant and he's already threatening that I better not go back after the baby is born......he can talk all he wants....I have no intention of going back!!

I smoked 2 packs a day for 10 years. I quit last August when I found out I was pregnant. Darling husband has been saying that he was going to quit for awhile now but has not yet.At least he does not smoke in the house. I am trying very hard not to go back to smoking. So far it is 10 wks since Tommy is born and I am still smoke free................
