Dog on Wedding Day?

I know it seems like a silly thing to ask, but what are you ladies doing with your dogs the day of the wedding???? Everyone I know/trust with my dog will be at the wedding! I've never done boarding/kennels. Help! (and I would like to see the little guy as long as possible the day of)

Dog on Wedding Day?

I've been thinking about this too. My dog will definitely be with me while I am getting ready (my mom and I are already working on a wedding dress for her that she can wear for pictures/video) but I don't know what I should do with her after... Leaving her alone in the house for more than 12 hours sounds a bit cruel.

Dog on Wedding Day?

We're boarding her, we love her but she won't be a part of our big day. We love Quail Run Kennels in Medford if you wanted a recommendation. Is it possible to keep him at home and just let him out right before you leave and right as you get home?

Dog on Wedding Day?

I live near Medford so I will check it out. Most of the important people will be staying at the hotel since the reception is in Nassau, so that won't work...but thanks for the suggestion!

Dog on Wedding Day?

Ask friends and family if they know any dog sitters. I don't trust anyone when it comes to my dog so even leaving him with a sitter makes me sad. But I know I can't leave him home alone for the night so I'm using my sisters neighbor who actually sits dogs as a side job.

Dog on Wedding Day?

I have a great dog sitter I've used for years in Huntington if you want her info. I'm paying her on the day of to pick my 2 pups up before the ceremony and then bring them to where were taking pictures in between so we can take some with them.

Dog on Wedding Day?

I want her there for photos but have no idea what I will do with her. My mom will stop home between church and reception to let her out and then hopefully she will be ok until we get home. My neighbors are invited to wedding so no clue who could let her out in between. Our reception is only 15 min from the house so she should be ok from 5-1am I hope! Ugh I'm stressing over this

Being that we are coming in from out of state, both our dog and cat are being boarded. My dog loves our kennel, my cat not so much!

Dog on Wedding Day?

We had the same issue! I have 3 mini schnauzers... my parents didn't want to put them in a kennel, plus I wanted pictures with them before the church! My parents plan to (after we're done with pictures & I'm in the limo haha) put plastic down in the living room, where they will be gated in.... in case they have an accident!
And my brother's friend who he has known since Jr High & his wife, who works with my Mother will be checking in on the pups throughout the day/night to let them out, etc.

Dog on Wedding Day?

me too! i dont want them at my moms house (she may stay @ home bc its right by larkfield) because of the hair.... and also i get nervous with my mom bc my dogs are so small and she doesnt pay enough attention some times (she's used to bigger dogs) so i may have them stay at our vet (eastport) from thurs til sat (while on honeymoon someone will watch them) ... but really appreciate the suggestions here too!

Dog on Wedding Day?

I was having the same dilemma, until I remembered that my folks have a dogsitter that they LOVE. I think I'm going to use her that day. I can't imagine she'd object, but let me just check with her and if she's okay with it, I'll send you her contact info.

FM me if you're interested.

Dog on Wedding Day?

Ugh, I have the same issue. My dog is very old and blind and putting him in a cage at the kennel would terrify the poor little thing so that's not an option. I'm considering just lining the house with wee wee pads and leaving him plenty of water and food. I can't bear to take him out of familiar surroundings cause he bumps into everything but at the same time I feel so guilty leaving my little munchkin!
On a happier note, he is totally getting a doggie tux and top hat and will be in plenty of pictures!

We wanted to involve them in the wedding but logistically it wouldn't work; so instead we are hiring a doggiesitter
