Ok I need help with our new dog. We got her on Friday. She really hasnt eaten anything and has drank very little.
She has not pee'd since yesterday morning. Should I be calling the vet asap or do u think she hasnt gone b/c she hasnt drank to much.
She is still trying to get used to us, so I know that is probably throwing off her eating and drinking.
I dont know what to do...

Re: Dog question
call the vet...make sure she is not ill. usually if they do not eat by 3 days it may indicate a problem.
Do you have a vet?
I hope she is OK.

Re: Dog question
I would take her to the vet- the not drinking/urinating thing is bothering me..
Did you change her food? Do you know what she was eating? you should keep her on the same food.
How old is she & what kind of dog?

Re: Dog question
She is a year old. From what I read about their breeds they go through a period at this age where they wont eat. They will eat when they are ready and not b/4 that.
She is not big into drinking either which knew when I got her. She ate a tiny little bit last night and did drink some but she wont pee.

Re: Dog question
i have had many dogs.......what i would do is leave food and water out........if you see the dog eats a little....but drinks some water i would not worry...if no water is being drank, then call the vet....

I would call a vet just to be safe, but it sounds like an adjustment period thing. When I adopted my dog she did a little of the same.

You shouldn't feel silly at all! It's natural to worry, especially since dogs are known to be voracious eaters!
When I first adopted my dog, she didn't eat or drink much at all for almost two weeks! (She would take the occasional small snack from me, but she ignored her food and water dishes for a while.)
I'm sure everything will be fine!

Re: Dog question
I wrote an entire fm to you but when i tried to send it, it got deleted...
Usually, when we had her, she would only pee once a day. I would take her out in the morning and if she went, she wouldnt go until the next day again. Only if she drank ALOT would she go twice a day. I was concerned too when we first got her but my vet told us that its totally normal up until about 3 days. After that, there is a problem. Especially if she is drinking but hasnt expelled anything.
I am happy you called the vet though just to be sure. I used to think she was like a camel because she didnt go very often but once I got her into a routine, she went about once a day.

Re: Dog question
Thanks for getting back to me. I was hoping you would read this. Ok so its kinda normal for her then. Whew. Sorry to ask so much about her. But in away its good that you know all about her.
She woke us up 3 times last night. She is so funny. I remember you saying that if she crys that she wants to go out so at 1 am she was - I took her out and she wanted to play. lol Needless to say I was not having any of it. Then she woke me up again about 1 hr later crying. I tried to bring her into the bed but she didnt want to do that either. Then I woke up to a loud bang - she had knocked my alarm clock over and had the cord wrapped around her leg. So I had to wake DH up get him up so that I could get her out from under the bed. I took her in bed again covered her up and she went to sleep until I got up. lol She is to cute for words.

Re: Dog question
Her full name is KD Sandy. We call her Sandy for short. Last night was the first night I had to get up with her. Usually she sleeps under our bed. I dont know how she gets in there but she does.
When I left this morning she was in her fav place - under our bed.
