Oh, you poor thing. I have been through health related issues with my dogs liver and gallbladder. I belong to a canine liver disease message board and quite a few have had their dogs on IV overnight. I will say a prayer for your dog.

***UPDATE***

The vet just called back - his blood levels are all 'off' -

His pancreas is malfunctioning, and they don't know why yet.

They want to us to bring him in and they'll keep him overnight, hooked up to an IV to replenish all of the nutrients that he hasn't gotten in the past 2 days.

She said Cancer- and that scares me so much.

I know it sounds silly, but I really love this dog like a person. He's only 7 1/2 years old, and I'm not ready to give him up just yet. He is SUCH a person.


I hope your dog gets better!! That is so NOT silly to love him like a person. I love all my animals like people, even my finches. Don't worry yet until they have diagnosed him. I know that is easy to say, but it will be better for you. Keep us all posted on how he's doing. I really, really hope that he is okay.

I just went through a really scary week with Bama, so I know how you feel. I was sick with worry; he's like my son
I hope your little guy gets better soon. I agree about taking him to the emergency animal hospital. I had Bama there on Friday and they did more for Bama than my stupid vet did.

Nicole, I'm so sorry to hear about your dog! I hope that he is ok... and it's not silly to cry about it--he's a member of the family..

OMG, thank you all SO MUCH for your support...

He is at the vet tonight ---- allllllll alone.

He is receiving antibiotics, and electrolytes via IV throughout the night (unattended - that makesl me so worried.)

He doesn't have his blankie, or anyone to cuddle with, and I feel SO HORRIBLE

The Vet will continue to moniter him tomorrow, and if he starts eating/drinking and stops vomiting, he'll be in my arms tomorrow night!!! However, if he doesn't eat or drink, or go to the bathroom, he has to stay another night.

Poor baby - I just want to hug him!!!

This is so sad....I feel sooooo bad for him. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come back and update as soon as you hear from the vet, even if its a couple of times....you got us all worried like hes ours too......

I just love dogs....sadly, more than some people!

I am so, so, so sorry to hear about your little baby! I don't know what I would do if I had to leave my Madison with the vet overnight. She's like my daughter!

I know you are scared right now, but please know that the vet's office is the best place for your dog to be right now. Since he cannot keep anything down, the only option to replace missing nutrients and electrolytes is through an IV.

I will pray for you and your little guy tonight...I hope you receive good news from the vet tomorrow. Please post an update when you can!

OH my gosh, your poor doggy...I keep checking back on this post. I'm sooo sorry to hear that you had to bring him back to the vet, but as long as he's getting antibiotic treatment, they'll take good care of him and hopefully he'll be back in your arms tomorrow. The poor baby. My heart goes out to you. I would feel awful if this were my doggy so I can totally sympathize with you, as I'm sure most can. Pets are like our children...it's so hard to see them sick. You take it easy and don't worry, every thing will be okay. I send you and
