yay!!!!! my little Mo is out of surgery- there was a blockage in his stomach/bowels.... apparently 7 years of chewing pieces off of his Kong toys and munching on his blankies built up, and formed a 'mass'. Gross, right?

He's still sedated, but we're PRAYING that this solves the problem and there will be no more vomiting.

Oh man, I hope this is it!!! If he's OK after the surgery, we get him back on MONDAY!!!

That is such fantastic news!!!!!!! I am sure yoru pup will be sooo happy to get home on Monday and give you so many kisses for making him all better

The same thing happened to my rat terrier. Bottom Line: DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG UNATTENDED WITH KONGS -- OR ANY CHEW TOYS FOR THAT MATTER. It happened to Rascal more than once and now he hardly has any intestines left. If he eats one more thing, he will not survive another surgery. I can't believe it was a Kong in Gizmo's belly just like Rascal's. Poor little Guy. Good news is that RAscal recovered from two surgeries (plus his Legg Perthes surgery) so I'm sure Giz will do just fine. Shower him with and !

I'm so glad to hear that they found what the problem was and your doggy is on the road to recovery. Glad that the surgery went a-ok. Hopefully now your dog has many days of not ever throwing up again. Your poor dog. Well definitely learned a lesson from this...not giving my doggy certain toys. Hope all continues to stay on the positive side. Keep us updated!!

***UPDATE***

again.

Well the vet just called. Gizmo was very happy today, and even went for an outdoor walk w/ the vet tech.....

BUT

he drank water when he came in, and vomited it up immediately.

We're hoping it's just the anestesia (sp?) that's upsetting his stomach, but we won't know for a little while yet.

I'm really hoping that he's OK again - last night was a false sense of relief

Re: doggy *UPDATED, 6/11 noon (end of thread) - sad face alert.

Poor puppy! I wouldn't be surprised if it was the anathesia! That stuff can be tough on humans (my brother was so sick both times after his two surgeries) so I am sure it's tough on dogs too.

ETA- It's SO hot out too, one of our dogs often throws up when it's hot. My mom does not walk her in the heat anyone, only lets her out to pee.

I know my dog got sick from anethesia (sp???) when he had surgery. Hang in there. He may need some time to recover.
