I think the cutting down on expensive coffee is a good idea! I spend a fortune on that every week....will be tough though

I dont know about cutting out coffee but i cut it down. I went from a Venti 7 days a week to a grande 6 days a week and that was a huge sacrifice. Does that count at all?

I have not gotten a hair cut, done my nails or toes [they look so bad] or bought anything besides Christmas presents since October.
I got a gift certificate to the nail place for Christmas and I am saving it until I wedding I have to go to LOL.
And I have been search Craigslist on a daily basis looking for a second job.

Re: Doing anything extreme to save money?
FH and I have really stopped going out unless its someones birthday. We end up having people here a lot and everyone brings something. (hence the load of guys behind me watching the game with me). I stopped getting mani/pedi and shopping. I started working 60 hours a week bringing home an extra 1,000 a month around so that helps a lotttttttttttt. ahhh i wish weddings were free but I kind of think its half the fun that you have to figure things out and stuff!

Re: Doing anything extreme to save money?
we switched from buying cigarettes to making our own with empty tubes and loose tobacco. We save at least $50 a week.
And yes I know we would save more if we just quit smoking but let's not go there.

look through your old jewlery , anything gold you have that you havent worn in years sell it. you could probably make some good money depending on how much you have.

I did that too - but while I was selling it to the jeweler I fell in love with a bracelet that was there - the sold jewelery did not cover the cost of the bracelet. Now I owe money.
Soooooo counterproductive.

I'm in the same boat.
We're paying for the wedding ourselves. We can handle the deposits, but after that i have NO idea how we're paying for this thing (hoping is parents will decide to kick in some help), so every penny counts

Re: Doing anything extreme to save money?
do my own nails-get my hair done less. No shopping (except for house stuff) Basically no unnecessary spending. and started contributing a certain $$ each month to a specified wedding fund. Hope this works!
