I was considering it...but i don't wear makeup so I am not great at putting it on.

No...I want it to be perfect and to last all day. I think I would end up washing my face 100 times until I loved it and my make up always seems to wear off by the end of the day.

Re: doing own makeup

how do they make it perfect and stay so long? is it the quality of the makeup or the technique?

Re: doing own makeup

Definetly not.. Not htat I think anything is wrong but I feel more special when someone else caters to me and does my makeup... I also think its important to let a professional do it.. since you will be having a long day and they know how to apply makeup to make it last.. However I'm still on the hunt for one!

i think its both...it does depend on the type of make up they use but remember they usually apply make up different than we do on a regular day...they put concealers on the eyes first before apply something else, they even use special creams many times before even applying any of that...some use eye creams for the make up to last longer...also technique matters i think

I am gonna have airbrush so that alone will be different than the way i can do my own make up and im not about to try and airbrush my own make up lol

I am about 90% sure I will be doing my own. I have been working part-time for Estee Lauder for the past 9 yrs. I have done many brides so I know what to do to make the makeup last. I have some pics in my album if you'd like to check them out. I'm not sure what colors I will be doing yet.

Re: doing own makeup

I have someone doing my makeup because there's a real difference between having no makeup and having someone do it for you/knowing how to do it very well yourself. If you have any doubt about the good makeup can do for you, google 'celebrities without makeup' and you'll see what I mean!

That said if you are good at it, then do it yourself. I know I can't do it well (I can't apply eyeliner without poking myself in the eye), so I'm leaving it up to the professionals on my wedding day.

Thanks again for the compliment!

Re: doing own makeup

I just had an airbrush trial and I absolutely loved the way it came out. But I don't see anything wrong with doing your own make up. My make up routine consists of bare minerals on my face and chapstick so I am not the type of person to do my own make up.

I think I am doing my own because it is soooo expensive! I am also worried that if I don't like what they did, I am stuck with it.

Re: doing own makeup

i plan on doing my own. i had two trials and both times i just wasn't wowed. i mean, it looked great but i felt like i could do it myself and it would look equally good. i wear a good amount of makeup everyday and an old friend of mine worked for lancome for over 10 years and taught me a lot of tricks.

i did go to MAC last weekend and one of the ladies there put a whole bunch of stuff on my face so i could get a sense for how it would look. i bought everything she used on me, which cost some $ but i figure i'll have it long after the wedding......

Re: doing own makeup

I'm having mine done professionally for two reasons...
1. I want to be pampered day of
2. I'm not good doing my own makeup, probably cause i don't wear much usually

Re: doing own makeup

my SIL did her own and she looked beautiful all day.

i considered it but i have bad skin so if i'm broken out i definitely want really good foundation done by a professional that will stay on. that's the main reason i'm gonna have it done.

Re: doing own makeup

i post because i am thinking about doing it on my own now since i had a bad trial. my family is strongly suggesting i do it myself. to buy good quality makeup (that will be expensive but last a long time at least) and practice with their help. so i probably will try. for those that know how to keep makeup long lasting- can you share any tips?

thanks

Re: doing own makeup

They sell primers at sephora that is supposed to keep foundation and eye shadow on longer. Also, Mac sells a spray that sets foundation after its applied. I also heard putting your lipliner all over your lips (after making sure they're moisturized) before you put on lipstick keeps the color on longer.
