Fh looooooves things like that, and I hate them. I am not a very good dancer (I'm so uncoordinated it is embarrassing), so they just make me feel uncomfortable.
I told him he can have one group dance, so we'll see what he picks.

Unfortunately, I don't even think lessons will help!

None of those dances will be played at my wedding. Just Shout. When everyone is drunk. No macarena, no dollar dance, no cotton eye joe, no cha cha slide, no electric slide... nope, I hate them, I think they are for a sweet 16 (although the last sweet 16 I was at they didn't play it any of them either), and if I hear them, I will be soooooooooooooooooooooo pissed.

I totally agree with you 110%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't stand any of those dances and I already told my DJ to put them all on the DO NOT PLAY LIST. They are extremely sweet 16ish.

Re: Dollar dance ...
noooooooo. i think the dollar dance is so tacky. you're asking people for EVEN MORE money... after they gave you a gift in the envelope. i was at a wedding once... and i had no cash on me... and i looked and felt like such an *** for not going up and sticking dollars in the brides dress.
i would never wanna do that to my guests!!!
just my opinion!!!

LI Sound automatically does NOT play them unless u specifically put them on a play list for them.... so thats good!
i may include like 1 of those just to get my older aunts/cousins on the dance floor at some point....shout, and maybe cha cha slide, nothing else!! otherwise it will be just like my sorority formal which will be 2 weeks before LOL

Re: Dollar dance ...
This may be a dumb question but...what exactly is the dollar dance? I've never seen one before.

I think it is popular in Latin American cultures. Basically all of the men at the reception 'pay' to dance with the bride. it used to be customary to give a dollar, but I think most people give $10s nowadays. But they pin the money to your dress YIKES - people putting pins in my dress is a big No No No!
FYI everyone else, we are not talking about the '1 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, dolla' song that everyone dances to.....
I don't think it is tacky. it is just a custom. No different than how people throw money on the floor for greeks or how we toss the garter and boquet.

I'm not sure exactly how it works because I'm not Latin. But my sister has been to alot of weddings where they pay to dance with the bride. I'm not sure if it is just 1 song where people cut in, or if it is something that goes on all night or how exactly it works.
It has to be something that is part of your culture. My family has never done it, so it would be weird for me to be like 'come give me money to dance with me on the dance floor'.
But if it is something that goes on at all weddings in your family, people expect it.
Oh, I just looked it up and it appears that it is for a couple of minutes. People are supposed to line up and they get about 30 seconds.

Same here. There will be NO line dances, group dances, whatever. I refuse for them even to do a conga line b/c I HATE being pulled into those things........even though I love to dance.
