Has anyone been to the Dominican Republic? If so, where did you stay? DH and I are planning a trip possibly for January and we are looking at all-inclusives. We save that there are a couple of RIU hotels all next to one another and you can use the amenities at all of them so that looks pretty cool, but we weren't sure if it was good or not. Any advice or feedback? Thanks!

I did an all-inclusive Hilton in Puerta Plata. It was a nice place--but not much going on and kind of boring I think Punta Cana is suppossed to be much nicer. They have white sand beaches.

I have been to both Puerto Plata and Punta Cana. Punta Cana is bettter. No matter where u go u will have fun at the all inclusives.

I stayed in Punta cana at Majestic elegance, it was nice but too new (had some problems). I have heard better stuff about Majestic Colonial

i stayed at the excellence punta cana
the food and accommodations were beautiful but personally i would pick an island other than DR to go... it's not safe to leave the resort and the resorts don't really have any night life
if you're ok with grabbing a drink after dinner then going to bed, it's perfect... i just like more excitement

we went to the Excellance in Punta Cana for our HM and had a great time. The resort is beautiful and the staff is great and ontop of everything.

OMG! GO! FH and I went over a year ago in January and stayed at the Majestic Elegance (you can also stay at the neighbor resort Majestic Colonial). It was very affordable yet very nice ... FM me if you want to see some pictures of the room it was gorgeous! We had jacuzzi inside the room and one on our patio ... It sounds very exspensive but its not and its all inclusive. Every night at like 10 there is a show which was always entertaining ... we had ones like a Michael Jackson impersonator and a couples game show. And the resturaunts there were sooo good! There was Italian, French, a really good steakhouse, and even a Japanese place with a sushi bar where they cook it right in front of you like at Beni Hanah. We had THE BEST TIME.

I stayed at the RIU in Puerto Plata. I stayed at the Bachata which is supposed to be the nicest of the 3. Merengue was the second nicest and Mambo being the least expensive of the three, I had access to all three and it was kinda cool being able to eat anywhere u wanted. It was an awesome trip and I highly recommend it. I would love to visit Punta Cana next.

I am Dominican and when my FH and I went to Punta Cana for a vacation, we stayed at Majestic Elegance. We also have visited Majestic Colonial and Paradisus Punta Cana. Majestic Elegance was reallllly nice and I had a great time. Make sure that you upgrade to the VIP services (it was a great add on)!

we got engaged at the majestic colonial and had a great time. we definitely would go back. the majestic elegance was not yet open at the time. the most relaxing vacay ever

We stayed in Punta Cana at the Punta Cana Princess... It was a nice all inclusive place for couples. Good luck!

def. go to punta cana. we stayed in dreams punta cana and it was gorgeous with fun nightlife. it was the only PC hotel ive stayed in but miles and miles better than the 3 puerto plata hotels i went to.

I have been to both Puerto Plata and Punta Cana...both were great but I liked Punta Cana better. We stayed at the Occidental...the water is blue and the food was fab! Puerto Plata it rained the whole time but that was in Nov.

I went in January with FH's family to Punta Cana. We stayed at Ocean Blue and it was great. Since it was all inclusive the food was not the best but it was good.

Punta Cana- Paradisus. It was our favorite vaca ever!! Such a good time. Beautiufl resort!

exellence domenican!!! best time ever:) we got engaged there soo it was perfect!!! the weeather and resort is beautiful and everyone there is sooo helpful and accomodating. They make you feel like royalty:)

I think we've narrowed it down to either RIU Bachata in Puerto Plata or the Occidental Grand Punta Cana (in Punta Cana)
