I love Punta Cana, DR - esp. Bavarro Beach section. I stayed at the Iberoster Bavarro (not for honeymoon) and loved it. I also stayed at the Iberostar Costa Dorada in Puerta Plata. Although I had a great time I wouldn't recommend this one for a honeymoon - this one is a little older and the beaches on this part of the country weren't as nice.
FH and I went to Dominican Republic in August. We stayed in Punta Cana at the Paradisus. We did an all inclusive and while the resort was beautiful and very clean, I personally wouldn't go back and wouldn't reccommend it. The food was horrible and after 9pm there was nothing to do and you couldn't leave the resort. The only good thing about Punta Cana was that the beach was very clean and there were a lot of young couples (mostly in their 20's and 30's).

We went to Punta Cana as well and stayed at the Melia Caribe - all inclusive booked through Liberty Travel. It is truly beautiful, excellent service, food and drinks are unbelievable. Night life has a show every night and there are two bars to go to. Not really a party / dance resort but a great honeymoon place. I also suggest taking one of the tours they offer but the buses don't have air condition.

WE also stayed at Melia Caribe. The resort is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! The food in the restaurants were good, but the buffets were ok. We went with some friends, and during April break, so there were a lot of teenagers. I personally would not go back.
