Re: Don
Allow me to butt it, my friends
Wally is a much smarter man than I gave him credit for -- that is, smart to stay far away from the Mets
OK -- I'm just kidding. I'm not sure what happened there and why he pulled out, but I was of the opinion that he would have been a better choice, overall, than some of the other candidates up for the job
As for Randolph -- well I am a bit biased because I love Willie. Objectively, I think he is smart and very knowledgable, and I'm sure he would make a fine manager somewhere.. but not sure that 'somewhere' would be managing the Mets either. I think the Mets need a STRONG, FORCEFUL presence to whip their arses into high gear, and Willie ain't that man
Then again, back in '95-96 I thought firing Showalter and hiring Torre was the stupidest thing the Yankees ever did....and we all know how wrong I was
So I guess I'm not so smart after all
THEN AGAIN -- I could hardly care what happens to the Mets, so remind me why am I concerned with this?

OH yeah I love to butt in

Re: Don
The Mets frankly... didn't think he was qualified enough for the job. So they let him interview over at Arizona and he took the position there.Right now I believe the Mets job is a toss-up between Randolph and Leyland. I am not thrilled with either candidate. I wanted either Lou... or bring back Bobby.

I've been saying that since they booted him.
(and maybe he will open his restaurant back up...they had great wings!)

never really was...
True story..went to a Met game way back when (had seats right in front of the dug out)and some fan comes running down and throws something into the dug out. a second later someone from the dug out throws a baggie back out. My and my friend take the baggie and it has a tag saying To Keith...The baggie was filled with white powder...
Now i know it wasn't real but the exprience has stayed with me
