Donating wedding flowers?

Donating wedding flowers?

I was thinking of donating our wedding flowers to a hospital the day after. Anyone doing this? Are there better ways to make use of the flowers the day after?

If you do this, you are going to need to fight off your guests -- at my wedding, the flowers were all taken home by guests.

That's a very sweet idea. But Valencia's right...guest do usually steal the flowers. Maybe you could have your DJ make an announcement.

At every wedding I have ever been in, people take the centerpieces. Have the DJ do one of those games to give it away or something.

I've also heard a lot of hospitals have stopped accepting flower donations. I think Jenhos posted that about the flowers for her mom's funeral. I don't remember why - maybe it was allergies?

i agree with the dj game. you could have him annouce for the oldest person, youngest or whatever you want. At one wedding they played hotpotato and the person who last passed the knapkin got the centerpiece

I guess I was trying to think of some other useful way of utilizing the centerpieces other than giving them to guests...if donating to the hospital isn't the best route then I guess I'll have to give up on my philanthropic idea..
