Donation Favors

I was looking for favors online tonight and everything i found i kept thinking that people wouldnt use it. So a lot of people in my fam have diabietes and my grandfather died from alzheimers so fh and i were thinking of doing a donation to each. What should i write so people will know what we did? I was thinking of putting cards on the tables but i just have no clue what to write....any ideas? thanks so much!! (sorry so long)

I think that sounds like a good idea. No money goes to waste on this idea at all. Every favor I've taken home from a wedding, I've either lost or thrown away. I say go for it, it's a really nice idea!

Depending on who you donate to, for example the American Cancer Society, they provide you with scrolls that explain a donation was made. If you know who you would like to donate to, contact them to see if they provide you with anything premade. If not you can print one 'notice' per table or one per place setting. Whatever you prefer.

Here is one example:

To Our Family & Friends

With much thought & consideration,
we have chosen a special way
to say “Thank You’ for sharing
our wedding day with us.

In lieu of a traditional wedding favor,
we have made a donation to _______
in memory of ______. (if appropriate to your situation)

We feel the finest gift
is one which helps others
live longer and healthier lives.

We truly appreciate your being
part of our special day.

Love,
Bride and Groom

We donated to the American Heart Association in my honor of my father-in-law (who passed) and they offered to provide scrolls, but, the selection of paper was limited and the letter was sandardized and we wanted something more personal, so I created my own. You can FM me for more info.

We also had a memorial table with a candle, a framed copy of the scroll and his photo.

Good Luck!

we're doing donation favors to the American Cancer Society. check my album for the wording... you could probably steal it and print up your own version on cardstock. Good luck!

we did a donation to the american diabetes association, and they sent us scrolls. they were nice, and we had to roll them and ribbon them. the ink was raised, and i just really like raised ink. we were able to get one scroll per plate.

Here's something simple to show the donation is to a charity that means something:

Dear Family and Friends,

In honor of our guests,
we have made a charitable donation to
XXX.

Thank you for being a part of our lives
and joining us on our wedding day.

Love,
XXX

Re: Donation Favors

I have been to two weddings that they did this. Great idea. One gave the plastic bracelets with a tag that said who and why they are donating $. The other did cards with a saying and for who it is for. They also had a table with their dads pic and family ones(he died of cancer) with a nice saying. It was really nice to see $ going to a good cause instead of something I will not us

Re: Donation Favors

we did this for our wedding a couple years ago. my dad and several relatives on each side are cancer survivors, or have passed from cancer- so we donated to the lance armstrong cancer fund. everyone got a yellow livestrong bracelet and a small tin of mints. on the tag, i just wrote

'to honor our loved ones affected by cancer
a donation has been made to the Lance Armstrong Cancer Fund'

and then it had our names and the date. short, and to the point. everyone really loved the whole idea of it and we still almost 3 years later get compliments about it!

Re: Donation Favors

FH's father died of a heart attack, so we're donating money to the American Heart Association. We're tying a note to a flower for each guest that will read something like this:

In loving memory of Robert Page [last name], a donation has been made in your name to the American Heart Association.
