Donation Info?

I`ve heard that rescue volunteers need donations such as bottled water, snacks, socks, clothing, etc. Does anyone know where this can be dropped off in Nassau County?

Salvation Army was asking for those items...

Here in Boston they were broadcasting a need for what you've listed. Clothing should be clean and labeled for size. The Salvation Army was collecting it.

More Info

I just did a search on Yahoo for local Salvation Army locations, and there are a lot! They are accepting donations, so let`s spread the word!

Better explanation...

The salvation army is great. But also keep in mind, Mulcahy`s in Wantagh, right across from the Wantagh train station, and WBAB in Babylon on the Sunrise Hwy service road just west of exit 38 on the north side, are collecting anything and everything, from clothes, water, cookies, handy little snacks to the best breathing masks and goggles Home Depot has to offer. Plus they have a need for flashlights, batteries, glow sticks, etc. These places are trucking the donations in to the city.

The DJs on WBAB reminded people not to forget about the women who are also out there alongside the men. So, if you go out to pick up underwear, pick up for the ladies too.

One other thing .. there was also an urgency for vets. The search and rescue dogs they are using are also victims. Their paws are being torn open from the debris, and they too are having problems with the smoke that is effecting their eyes and breathing. I`m sure the dogs could probably use some food or something.

1-800-help-now is a phone number people can call to make monetary donations immediately by use of a credit card. This is the American Red Cross Donor Assistance phone number.
