We're doing donations in addition to homemade peanut butter cups as favors....FH's cousin died last fall and we'd like to donate to the foundation that researches cures for the disease...her family has also established a memorial scholarship fund at her college to help young people....I'd like to donate to both, but FH wants to donate just to the scholarship.. Do you think guests would be insulted if we don't donate to the foundation that will research the disease? Do you think it's rude to donate to education? I don't want to insult our guests, but I'd like to make FH's aunt and uncle happy. What do you think?

Re: Donation question
a good donation favor comes from the heart... either way you go, that is where it is coming from... i dont think you can go wrong either way!

Re: Donation question
I actually thinking donating to the scholarship would be better... not that the organization that researches the disease doesn't do good work, but making the donation to the college would make the donation that much more personal. ALSO, from someone that has worked in fundraising, scholarships need a good deal of money to just get started... it's needed to accrue interest, etc. etc. so the donations to scholarship funds initially serve the fund better in the long run... scholarships need money to get grow so they will always be there for future students... hope that makes sense!

Re: Donation question
i think your guests will be touched. i also think you should attach a little note explaining it though.
Here's what I'm doing b/c my mom passed away from breast cancer:
I'm getting those little see thru pink bags and filling them with hershey kisses. then we're going to attach a little note that says something along the lines of:
To honor those we love and lost a donation has been made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
Hugs & Kisses, Robyn and Justin
