I was just looking around the forum and saw the idea of a donation to a charity instead of the usual favors (candles, coasters etc). I am so absolutly in LOVE with this idea and excited to tell my fiance about it! His mother passed away from Colon cancer so we would obviously donate to a charity doing research on colon CA. Personally, i am a use animal nut and donate to the ASPCA and various animal shelters so i think that would be my charity of choice.
So basically, anyone have any creative, maybe DIY ideas for how to let the guests know about these two 'favors'. I saw the idea of a little card with Jordan Almonds attached.
Also, should we go with one chartiy or two, i kinda like two since it shows both of our personalities and hearts.

....so i was SO excited about this idea....like jumping around, texting my fiance excited....
I called my mom and this is what she said... 'egh...so so, people like to leave with something'
Can i tell you.....my heart SANK. I pretty much ended the call with a 'whatever bye'.

Thats exactly what i wanted to do. The almonds in a little box, maybe some ribbon...make it look nice! My mom was like, you should go look up 'practical favors'...like an oil and vinegar set.... i wanted to scream at her!
I'm gonna do what i want and she can deal with it! And if someone seriously says something about it then they will have to deal with me....

I'm doing a donation and I've gotten mixed reviews too but honestly I don't care! All the favors I get from weddings either sit on a shelf collecting dust or they get thrown away.
We are probably going to give mini Crumbs cupcakes to our guests along with a card stating that we are making a donation.

we r doing donations as well I have the letters in my album if you wanna see. I saw in a magazine that with donations to the ASPCA they gave little candy dog bones with the letter. I would say find the colon cancer color and go with that color candy. Don't listen to what other people say, if you like the idea, do it. A lot of my guests liked this idea!!!!! I am doing a honeymoon registry too, don't know how people feel about it, but I am doing what makes us happy!!!!!!
