To all the brides to be, Take my advice and don't be afraid to bargain with every single vendor (specially your hall) I paid an amazing price at FT becuase I wouldn't take No for an answer!!!!! They threw in my venetian for free, plus I got married there for free and NO TAX/gratuity!!!!!!!!!! Had I not been so persistent I would've paid for all those things!!!!! Money doesn't grow on trees, don't be embarrassed to take a chance!!! The worst they can say is no! XOXOXO Kitty

Kitty- first of all i love your icon- i'm OBSESSED with hello kitty as well!!! but thats such a great point- My friend offered to pay in cash for all of her vendors and RH and then didnt have to pay tax- so i'm totally gonna try that.
but my one question is can you ever bargain down the guarntee of people? one place i LOVE says you have to guarntee 150 people which i cant-(i'll have 125 at the most) i even asked to speak with her manager- like begged and she wouldnt BUDGE- (they do only one wedding at a time) anyone have a tip on bargaing for a lower minimum?????
Unfortunately that was the ONLY thing I couldn't talk them down was the # of people! They would not budge on that. I ended having less than 140 there, oh well. It won't hurt to ask!!! XOXOXOX Kitty

Oh well. Bargaining with Faze 4 didn't work. Sigh. The wedding industry is such a racket. They all go on and on about how they're the best and you'd be crazy to book with anyone else. We all want our wedding to be great but in the end, it's just one day and so dropping lots of money here and there to get 'the best' just doesn't always work. This isn't a house that I'm going to live in or a job that I'm going to have for years. It's just one day. Blah. I'm cranky now.
And you're ABSOLUTELY right!!!!!!!!!! DH and I are STILL paying for our wedding over a year later!!! Was it worth it? If you ask me yes, If you ask him no. We're about to have a baby and we have a 14,000 bill hanging over our heads every month! It's only one day, skimp were you can!!!! XOXOXO Kitty

We upped our minimum in order to lower our per person price by $10. I think this should work out okay b/c we are likely to have at least the minimum amount anyway. This whole wedding planning thing is soooo confusion.

Bargaining does work in a lot of cases. A very easy bargain is to try to get 10 % off on your wedding dress. A lot of stores do this. Especially if you're getting your bm dresses there as well. It may not sound like a lot, but 10% saves you the tax and then a little. Also with reception halls, a good way to bargain is to try to get extras thrown in for the same price.

I think there is more room to bargain if you are a Friday/Sunday or out-of-season wedding. Saturday night May - Oct most vendors don't need to budge they have so many weddings.
I'm getting married on a Friday and some of the vendors have told me flat out they are willing to negotiate for Friday nights (and the prices are alread lower to start out with)

So far I found that the best way to bargain was by having my wedding on a Thursday!

I bargained with almost ALL of my vendors. I dont want to name them here but we booked our wedding 6 months out and everyone seemed desparate for business!

I agree - it's always better to at least try to bargain!
