I had it done today, and it looks awful. Makes the nails really thick, and looks so fake! Can't believe I spent $60...

Re: Don't bother with the permanent french manicure
Where did you have it done? I used to get it done all the time & with a sheer nail polish you couldn't tell the difference.
Sorry you don't like it.

Ah, you're right-- it might just be the incompetent people at the nail salon I went to. Don't know the name of the place, but it's in Bay Shore in the Blockbuster shopping center. I went there because you don't need an appointment, but the nails are so thick and silly-looking! They actually curve upward instead of downward because the white tips are so thick.

Do you get your nails done often?
ETA: I am weary of the places where you don't have to make an appointment. They can have a high overturn of staff & you may never get the same person twice. $60 is top dollar for that service though. I would go back & complain!

I got them done I like them. Rule of thumb...Don't touch jello! I had jello shots at my BP & my nails have a pinkish coating!!

Re: Don't bother with the permanent french manicure
wow that stinks. I have it and I LOVE IT I've been going to the same person for 6 years.
I dont have to make an appointment but the owner also knows me and knows I go in the same day same time and I only use her (unless she is really busy or not there then I use a girl who has been there 6 years) so I guess that makes it a standing appointment for me
I get the permanent with a nice clear polish and they look wonderful. I have received a few compliments on them when I go to stores or out.

I guess where you went did a botched up job, b/c a few of us had them done and love them. I think you should try somewhere else. SOrry yours did not turn out well. Lizlen has been doing it for yrs and they look absolutely fab. Chippa just got hers done and they are great. I did mine a couple of mos. b4 my wedding and if I was in to tips I would still do this. You need to try another place.

Ugh! What a disappointment, and waste of money! Maybe try someone else if you really have your heart set on a french manicure.

Re: Don't bother with the permanent french manicure
So sorry about your experience. THe permanent french is so pretty. Where I go in Hempstead they do a slammin job. WIth the permanent french, tho', since it's not easy, you need to go where they really know how to do nails, and your best bet is a recommendation. My have never been thick at all. Good Luck

Re: Don't bother with the permanent french manicure
there are 2 ways to acheive the permanent french manicure look. 1 is where they use a white nail tip instead of the usual clear one. they apply it and then overlay it with your choice of wrapping (ex: acrylic, silk, gel etc) the other way is a white material that is applied to your natural nail or false tips and then a gel overlay. i met a girl in the gap who had fierce french nails. i asked her where she had it done. i have had the white tip ones and the results weren't too pretty. she then explained the process. i was like ok, that explains the natural look(she had the material one over her own nails, no tips) so as soon as my nails grow out from under these tip i got yesturday i will head over to the salon she told me about (lucky right in my neighborhood) and get them!
