don't buy gas today

don't buy gas today

i got this in email today and not sure if this has been posted but....

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES AND
CANADA
DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME
DAY,
THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF
OVER
4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL
COMPANIES.

THEREFORE

THURSDAY

SEPTEMBER 1st HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED 'STICK IT UP THEIR BEHIND '
DAY
AND THE PEOPLE OF THESE TWO NATIONS SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF
GASOLINE THAT DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY
PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT
GOING TO
HAPPEN.

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT
THE
SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES
ARE
FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT
IS
SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL
SUPPLIES
ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE
DAY, WE
WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE
YOU
KNOW.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE

THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 1ST

A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA SAY 'ENOUGH
IS
ENOUGH'

too late I was almost on E and when I was astation for $2.99..................I gave myself whiplash to pull in and buy some.

I can't beleive that 2.99 excited me as being a bargain.

Re: don't buy gas today

The only thing we can do is conserve as much as possible, trade in the SUV's for an economical car, and wait it out. We are a nation that wastes gasoline, that has been the case for quite a while. approx 50% of the vehicles we drive around in get only between 10-20 miles per gallon...SUV's. Obviously trucks used for businesses are one thing, but it is not necessary to drive these big gas guzzling SUV's because you 'like it' on a day to day basis. Honestly, there is enough trunk space in today's fuel economical sedans (and the seats fold down). SUV's are more likely to be in an accident (they are top heavy and are more likely to flip over and since a lot of people think they are 'safe' in them during the winter storms (which they are not), they tend to tail gate or speed in poor road conditions), and the only thing they are good for in the winter is driving through deep snow...they won't help you in ice, which is the majority of the problem. How many people are reallly driving in deep snow? Even during our worst winter storms the police will not allow anyone on the roads w/ out SNOW TIRES. Once the road is somewhat cleared away it is the ice that you have to contend with. If you want a good car to drive in ice and rain that gets good gas mileage buy a 4 cylinder sedan w/ traction control and ABS and stay away from rear-wheel drive.

Sorry for the rant. It just makes me a little angry when everyone is complaining (as we all have a right to), but then I go outside and almost every car I see is an SUV! I know that we all want a quick fix...no one wants that more then I do. But there is no quick fix...we go on supply and demand. What is more constructive: banning gasoline for a day or getting cars that average at 30 miles per gallon rather then 15 miles per gallon. I am not being rude, please don't take it that way.

stupid stupid chain letters.

I got sent one of these yesterday. I can't believe people actually believe this crap!

Like if a ton of people don't buy today the gas companies will crumble. Give me a break. We will just buy TOMORROW then!

Now if everyone decided NOT TO DRIVE for one day.... maybe that would make a difference.

But its not like we will ever see that now will we ......

.... and if by some stroke of god we do.... my car ride to work will be that much quicker for the day!

Supposedly we do not use most of our oil on car fuel but on office buildings. We should all work from home.

I agree. What is the purpose unless you NEED the room (more than 3 children etc.)? It almost seems that most caravans have more room than most SUVs anyway. I dont understand why so many people buy SUVs when the highest point on LI is Bald Hill! The gas they guzzle is just amazing. I would never want to pay for it. JMO
