Hmmm ok, so i am getting married on 10/10 this year. my cousins is having he sweet 16 at the end of the month. (not a problem i should have realized it was her sweet 16 but i book like 2 yrs ago and wasn't thing of this) anyhow she is having a 'super' sweet 16 at crest hollow with almost twice as many people at my wedding (like 300+) with all the extras...its costing them like $250 a person not counting all the extras, now granted i am having a fairly lavish wedding and i am doing it just how FH and I want it but my cousins luterally are millionaires and well im not lol. I just feel liek 3 weeks after my wedding people will go to her party and be like wow this is better than so and so's wedding. maybe i am just being silly....actually my family is not judgmental like that, with a few exceptions and honestly the out of town fam coming in for my wedding already say there not coming back for her party. my fam will prob think her party is a bit ridiculous but still i dont want my wedding to be upstaged by a 'super sweet 16'

Re: Dont know how to feel...
I understand your feelings but people feel differently when it comes to weddings. They are more sentimental and meaningful than birthday parties. Yours will stand out!

I wouldn't worry. To be honest, it sounds like they are trying to hard for a sweet 16, not to offend or anything. Just do things the way you and FH want and enjoy your day. Don't worry about what other people think,

Re: Dont know how to feel...
There is a big difference between a Sweet 16 and a wedding, its not worth sweating over. A sweet 16 is a group of hairy and horny teenages grinding up on each other...regardless of how much money they have its still a teenagers party.
A wedding is not a sweet 16

dont worry - and not all of your wedding guests are going to this sweet 16 - its only people from your family - so your friends and your FHs family wont even know about this crazy sweet 16 - its not like you and your cousin have the same guest list - dont sweat it!

Re: Dont know how to feel...
I wouldnt worry, especially since it will not be all the same guests. I dont think the amount of people makes a difference, i have never associated 'more people' with something being better. The feel of a sweet 16 is entirely different and IMO is not comparable to a wedding. And also figure there will be 16 year olds all over the place...no adult will enjoy a teenage girl oriented festivity more than a wedding.

Re: Dont know how to feel...
I wouldn't worry about it. People love weddings because of the symblic meaning of two families joining. A sweet 16 that is so elaborate, sometimes people think that's a big waste of money.
Enjoy your day and don't worry!

don't worry! Some people have money to waste on their spoiled kids parties. Seriously it will backlash on them for doing it.

diiittttooooo
i don't care how fancy they make it---its all just teenagers playing dress up for a nite. i mean how many times have i seen that super sweet 16 show and they spend all this money and the girls are wanting fancy stuff and everything--and in the end you see the same thing--horny kids grinding?
don't sweat it.

Re: Dont know how to feel...
I think you are 'thinking' to much into this.
I am unsure how any 'super' sweet 16 would be compared to a wedding.
Don't sweat the small stuff, this is really silly to feel anything about...
Money can't buy Love or Happiness, so Enjoy your wedding day and don't give a hoot about your cousin's sweet 16, it truly isn't worth it. I would put your energy into something that is more important to you and your FH.

Don't worry about it. It's two diferent types of affair. You are having a wedding and she is having a birthday party. You can't compare both. Thats just my opinion though. You're wedding will be beautiful and you should not worry about it.

I agree with ys wedding. She couldn't have said it any better. My cousin had her wedding in a KOC but put so much thought into her luau theme that it was the best wedding I've ever been too.

If anything....your cousin should be the one who is jealous...because everyone is going to come up to you and say how beautiful you were and how great your wedding was!
Also just on a side note...$250 a head is a lot...what the heck are they having added on? I didnt think you could even get up to $250 a head at Crest Hollow! Its not going to be all that...trust me...and everyone will probably be saying 'how spoiled'! LOL! Can you tell I am cranky today?!?!

dont even worry about it. People are going to have a GREAT time at your wedding. I havent had a GREAT time at a sweet 16 since I was 16. Nobody is going to say so and so didnt have this and so and did. Someone will always have more money. And that doesnt mean a better event either!

Re: Dont know how to feel...
You are in love and getting married- I'd say that's a helluva lot better than being spoiled by a lavish super sweet 16. BTW, those wanna be divas on that MTV show drive me mad! Anyways, think about the meaning of the day- use that as inspiration. Don't think twice of the sweet 16. And, then afterwards you can go to the sweet 16 and think to yourself 'I am glad we didn't spend this crazy amount of money!'
