Okay so the hotel I wanted to block rooms with for the night of - they gave me a rate of $95...BUT then they said they will include a shuttle to take my guets to/from the hall for $150. So basically my guests will get the 150/night rate and think they are getting a 'free' shuttle, only its not free-they are paying for it bc its included in their nightly rate, you know what I mean?...But i kinda feel like $150 is a lot... so i really dont know what to do now... DO I: -just go with the $95, not have a shuttle for my guests, and let them figure out how to get back/forth from the RH - go with the $95 and spend probably another 1k on shuttling everyone.. OR - just have my guests pay the 150?
ughhhh what to do!??!

Re: Don't know what to do...need some opinions....
$95/night at the hotel is a REALLY good rate.
Our rate was $129/night at the hotel, although some people got $119 on expedia and there was no shuttle. The shuttles didn't cost me that much, though. I ended up getting big limos for everyone and for all that, including for the BP was $1k.
I'd say go for the lower rate, and make sure people know transportation is NOT provided if you're not going to do it. If I were a guest, I'd rather spend $20 on cabs than an extra $55 on the room per night. That's just my opinion.

is there any way you can make up the difference on the rooms that are booked, so the guests still think they're getting the $95 rate, but you make up the rest to still have the shuttle? It might be cheaper than getting separate shuttles arranged.
on a side note i think it's nice to provide transportation, but not required if its not in your budget. if you decide not to provide it, it might be a good idea to provide them with car service information at least.

I don't think that would even be possible. If they call to make reservations-how can i pay for the extra $55 =/ Its a good suggestion, I just dont know how that would work...

I don´t know if this is possible in NY but can you talk to a cab company or car service nearby and work out a deal? I wouldn´t mention the wedding at first but just find out their rate (people love upping the cost when they hear the 'w' word! )
Then maybe you could get a discounted rate for your guests that night. They could call the number and say they are with your group. Again I don´t know if they do things like that in NY but it may be worth a try.

If you would want to be the one paying . . . Something else they do hear is have a car service tab. Do they do that there? I don´t know if this would be cheaper then renting a shuttle b.c I have not even begun looking into that yet. But the person would say they are going to your wedding and they just sign a voucher and then you get a bill for the total amount. Usually they ask the person for some proof but since in this case there is only one destination you would approve i don´t think that would be needed. if it is then maybe the guest could show the invite.
Just a thought but again I have no idea what ny prices are like right now so it may or may not be worth it.

Go for the lower rate. If I were a guest, I would find another cheaper way to get there than a 'free' shuttle. They are already getting to the hotel so some may have car rentals - and a cab would be okay too!

ITA, although my hotel is a lot more!! $209 for the night, but I think it must be because it's the summer and out east. A lot of people go out east to the wineries for weekends and stuff. I feel bad that it's so expensive
Re: Don't know what to do...need some opinions....
see if its cheaper to hire an outside company for transportaition

I agree with this suggestion! Before you make your decision do some research. It may be easier to hire your own bus/limo company for a shuttle.

ITA! They could carpool in cabs and stuff. $95 --> $150 is a really high jump just to provide a shuttle! I think your guests will appreciate a really low rate, and most guests don't expect to have transporation provided for them.

I would go with the lower rate. If the hotel is close to the hall then just rent a shuttle. I got a quote for shuttle service and it was very reasonable. It was only about 400 for the entire night.
