Don't let this happen to you.......(a little long)

I got my invitations last week and all my bridesmaids came over to help with all the stuffing, there was 5 of us so it was a little hectic but it went well. I sent them out on Friday My response cards don't have an M________like some do, it just has a line will attend, will not attend. So I realize on Saturday that I didn't put names on the responses or even mark them to know who is replying. So now I am getting responses some with just a check will attend, some with just a number of how many will attend and then I'm getting the ones that people put a return address on or wrote there names inside. I can't believe I did this, Now I'm going to have to call people to find out if they will be coming or not......

I should have never read your post because my parents and I had this huge discussion over it. My RSVP is a blank card that says something like 'the favour of your reply is requested by 8/15.' So they are supposed to fill it out like a note. This is the old fashion way of doing it. My parents wanted me to number them, but I argued that how can you assume that people are that stupid! I guess this week when the RSVPs come back I will see how stupid people really are.

Always assume people are stupid.. because well, a lot of them are. LOL This same thing happened to a friend of mine... got replies that said 'We will attend' or 'We will not attend' with no return address or anything...

I wouldn't write the names in, but it's always a good idea to number them, lightly in pencil on the back.

Numbering the RSVP cards was the best thing I ever did. I can't tell you how many I got back that were blank!

I penciled them as well. I spent enough money on buying the invitations I want to know who's responding.

I didn't (wanted to get them out)
But at this point (5 weeks away) I know who is coming and who isn't from FIL's and my parents...

Look at this email FI got today from one of this GM:

I just got the invitation.
the reply card? It's blank. Usually there are two items to choose from,
Yes, I Coming and No, I'm not coming. Weird. I make up my own thing or
the printer forgot that part?

wow..i'm so sorry to hear that!
It's funny too, because I designed and made my invitations...with help from my mom and maids of course..but I did SO MUCH research to make sure that I didn't goof them up since I was making them, that I avoided that problem!
I only had an outer envelope, so I wrote the names of the poeple invited on each responce card to ensure that there were no 'uninvited guests' so to speak. I read that the easiest way to screw yourself is to have a too 'open ended' responce card. I'm so sorry to hear that this has proven true
