but from what i understand, its ok because were young so it will pay off in the long run if you have a more high risk, variable rate of return

Please think of it this way... you ONLY lost money if you take it out.
You ladies are all so young that when the stocks are low like this and your still investing the money that goes in now is going to be great when everything picks back up EVEN if it takes years .
However, I do agree, its our parents that we should be worried about, hopefully they have enough to cover without having to dip into retirement for awhile.

You ladies are all so young that when the stocks are low like this and your still investing the money that goes in now is going to be great when everything picks back up EVEN if it takes years .

yes, this is very true which is why I'm not removing my money from there even though it's painful to see it depleting
hopefully it will go up up up by the time i'm a grey lady
