My postman has asked for me to not park in front of the mailbox (mailbox is by the curb, he just drives his little lazy butt from box to box). Anywhoo... numerous people have been asking me if I've received cards, packages etc. I have not. Do you think he is being spiteful and not delivering my items??? And yes I was still parking in front of the box.

That's interesting... is there anyway to call the post office to see what if it was tracked that you got them? Maybe you shouldn't park in front of the mailbox and see what happens...

I doubt he's withholding the mail but I also would not deliberately park in front of the mail box either.

Go to the post office and see what's going on. Tell him what your carrier said and then add that you suspect that all of your mail is not getting to you.
BTW: Is his name Newman by any chance.

It's not that I was deliberatly parking in front of the box but I live on a dead end street with a lot of cars and sometimes that's the only spot. I'm not going to park down the block when I am a homeowner!

I have heard this too, my cousin and FH lived in Mastic/Shirley area and if they park in front of the mailbox the mailman either blares his horn until someone comes out and moves the car or just doesn't deliver it..

Actually it's not. I have a friend who is a carrier. I recently had a similar problem with my mailman. I asked my friend and he said that if a carrier feels that if can't safely deliver the mail - he doesn't have to. Union rules - and totally subjective. I could complain to the postmaster -- but it's completely up to the carrier whether or not he delivers the mail.
My carrier stopped delivering my mail until I REPLACED my mailbox with one that suited him better. There was nothing wrong with the first box if you ask me! He just happened to have to bend over to put anything in it.

My FW is a former letter carrier (mailman).
And ill be brief... DONT PISS OFF THE POSTMAN.

He probably doesn't want you park in front of the mailbox b/c there is a lot of stuff to get out of it..its probably very heavy for him to carry it.
BTY My dad is a mailman
I do think if he is holding on to your mail, thats a little ridiculous.
