I truly believe that my father will not be attending my wedding. Story short - he remarried and has not been the same ever since, his wife hates my sisters and I, and I just think she does not want him to attend. My wedding is 6 months away and at this point I don't think he will be RSVP-ing yes. I feel like the wedding has a mind of it's own and I am just not enjoying the planning procces anymore.

Re: Don't think my dad is coming
I'm so sorry to hear that. Maybe you could call him and tell him how much it means to you for him to be there regardless of how his wife feels about you guys? I mean, you ARE his daughter....

Re: Don't think my dad is coming
He continues to argue with me......and it is spiraling out of control. He is so rude to my FH and has not asked me one detail about the wedding. It's just pretty evident that this is the way it will be. But thanks girls for the advice....I really appreciate it

Re: Don't think my dad is coming
Honestly I wouldn't want him there if he was going to be rude to my FH or if his wife was going to come and knowing she does not like you and your sisters. The last thing you want at your wed is drama.

You should call him and let him know how important it is to you that he walks you down the aisle

Re: Don't think my dad is coming
my good friend had the same problem and she had a close male relative take her dad's place. He walked her down the aisle, danced the first dance with her and even toasted the happy couple. It was still beautiful and touching.
If his wife is going to f up your day and he is going to stand by and let it happen, then they both need to stay home.
hugs to you!

Re: Don't think my dad is coming
Have you ever thought about writing him a letter? Sometimes I think it helps to be able to get down all of your thoughts without the other side arguing while you are trying to talk. And maybe if it was something that expressed how much he means to you and how sad you are about the way things have turned out - then given time - and the chance to read it and really let it sink in - he might rethink his position?
Good luck.

Re: Don't think my dad is coming
well not for nothing but if he would let another woman get in the way of being there for his baby girls special day...well he's not much of a father at all...and he isn't worthy of sharing in ur special day anyway. I'm sorry to speak that way about ur dad...but you deserve more than that.

Re: Don't think my dad is coming
can you talk to the new wife and express to her that whatever differences you might have---you NEED your father there and you hope she put the drama aside for that day?
i'm sorry you have to deal with this.

I agree. Have a talk with him and let him know how much it means for you to have him there.

I'm sooo sorry you are going through this! Try talking to him and let him know how much it would mean to you to have him there on your special day. Make him realize that you ARE his family and you should come first!
