My friend just had her baby maybe a week and a half ago. SHe had him a month early so I hadnt gotten anything for him yet. The day she bought the baby home I went shopping for some clothes and bottles for him since she didnt have anything for the baby. Now her 'baby shower' is this saturday and everything on her registry is like $80 and up. Im broke and I have a million things to do for my wedding. Is it wrong to not get her anything else. We've been friends since junior high but you know how you outgrow friends. Well that's the case she's cool and nice to be around in for an hr or two every month or so.
Sorry so long

Re: Dont want to be mean but
I think you should get her a nice card and a gift of about 20 dollars (or less) since you already got her gifts for her baby you shouldn't feel bad, but definitely go if you can and don't show up empty handed

i also say target - they have a lot of cute stuff and the baby right now needs A LOT of one-pieces and plain oufits...
and then maybe get her a pedicure gift certifcate - so she can relax - thats a cute thing i always get - the mom needs to relax and be pampered too

I would just get her something small. It is supposed to be the thought that counts and if she is a true friend she should understand your financial situation.

You don't have to get anything off the registry-diapers, or a $25 gift certicate to Babies R Us.

get her something....even a $20 photo album beats NOTHING. i'll add my mommy 2 cents by saying that hormones are crazy for her now and if you get nothing, she'll not only NOTICE, she'll be crushed...wrong or right.
note: the best gift of all is diapers...all babies need htem so feel free to get ANY size you want...b/c they don't expire and eventually she'll need them!!!!
I definitely agree with the diapers...so many people will be getting her outfits, etc. but diapers they need everyday, many times a day. Also the onsies little outfit thingies, I know my little cousins always went through them like crazy. You can never have enough of those.

Maybe a gift for the new mommy herself? Something to make her feel special and pampered, even a gift certificate to a restaurant that has good take-out.. or an offer to make dinner one night, or babysit? Those first few weeks can be rough!

I totally agree with MrsMichel07. Not to sound harsh but you said you already bought something for the baby. If you want to add to that then yeah get pampers. She will be grateful for that. but, technically you gave her a 'early baby shower gift'

That's a great idea to get something for mom! Maybe a gift cert for a pedicure?

I would buy her something. It doesn't have to be on her registry....but you should get something.

IMO - I think that you already got her something and friendship should not be about gifts. I would go to the shower since you already gave her presents. You also said that she told you not to expect a gift from her - and she is coming to your wedding so how is that different?? The friendship should be about sharing the time and special day with the person - not a gift.

I agree! I would add that a card is required. Maybe you could write soething about how special it was for you to be there the day the baby came home and how exciting it was to spend time with them and celebrate in a private way. That way you cover all the bases. 'Look I came to the baby shower but remember how I already gave you a gift'

Re: Dont want to be mean but
You can easily get something cute for really cheap. Try Marshall's or a department store and buy a few little outfits or one of those baby dish sets. They are super cute and 'cost effective'. If you are going to the shower I think you should bring a gift.
