doubting my dress

doubting my dress

this is my dress

it's Casablanca 1992, sorry could'nt get closer to the back so you could see the details
under the bottons it has swarkovski crystals going all the way down to the train.
I originally ordred it with the botton closures but am thinking that I might like a corset back due to having large 'girls' and wanting to hold everything in better. Alsoi figured it would let a little room to breath as I have yet to loose the weight I need to!
what would you do?

I think that dress it really pretty. I would not do a corset back unless absoutly necessary because of the buttons. I wanted a corset and the dress I wound up with has the same buttons and I think it might look weird with a corset and then buttons. JMO

They can also let the dress out if necessary so that is an option.

Actually, if you have 'large girls' you're probably better off with the buttons. It will hold you in better. Everyone I know who's had a corset has told me that it naturally loosens during the evening, so they've had to go in and re-tie.

If you go with this dress make sure the person who orders the dress for you orders it TWO SIZES LARGER, at least.

When I ordered my dress, which had all of the beautiful buttons down the back, the lady said 'We are ordering you a Size 6.'....now, I am a size 4 in street clothes, so I thought nothing of it. I go back a few months later for fittings, and the back wouldn't zip up all of the way. So the seamstress said she could release it a bit. I go back for fitting number 2, it still doesn't zip so the seamstress again says she will fix and 'It will be PERFECT'...mind you, I am standing there crying. I go to fitting number 3, and this time they squeeze me into the dress, you can see marks where the dress is digging into me, I felt like i was going to faint and had to hold onto the wall. The owner of the store had the AUDACITY to say that this is how brides like to be in the dress, and made me feel awful for just wanting to breathe on my wedding day. So then at that point, I had to give up my beautiful buttons and she made a corset back for my dress. I will say the corset is more comfortable, but that is because my dress is really for someone a size 2.

Re: doubting my dress

i just tried that dress on yesterday! its one of my top 3 choices. i have 'large girls' myself and i think if i end up with this gown im gonna leave the back as is with a zipper only because i'd be afraid to make changes and take away from the look of the lace

The buttons are gorgeous! You don't need a corset back. If you feel more comfortable you can have a full corset on under the dress, but I'm sure your seamstress can make that dress fit you to a T. As long as it fits just right, the girls will stay in place.

Re: doubting my dress

thanks! I did make some changes, and they are making the top straight across instead of a sweatheart neckline. I was scared my 38DDalmost another D would be popping out all over the place! Now I just need to stick to weight watchers and exercising! I've gained abotu 5lbs since I ordered and now need to loose that plus abotu 5 inches on my waste! Oh boy!

i had a Casablanca dress also. I had them do a corset rather than the back it came with and they did a beautiful job.
i also didnt feel like the dress loosened up at all during the night.
