I think you should go do a search for reviews... there are TONS of happy Velvet brides on this site - many with reviews with pictures. That will probably help!

I agree - but in the end, go with your gut...
I wound up changing photographers because of A bride's experience... I went with my gut - and I am glad, b/c I'm getting about 150% more with my new one and feel much more confident with them.

I had doubts about every vendor, every decision I made, everything... I think it's natural as the wedding gets closer. You want your wedding to be perfect and you just have to hope you choose the right vendors!
I just had to reassure myself that I chose these vendors for a reason. I ended up being 100% happy with everyone I chose... especially velvet! Maybe you can talk with them about your concerns, what you expect, etc.

sort of... we hired a photog who is photojournalistic in style which is what we want, but she is also very artsy and does art photography on the side. so every now and then i think, 'am i going to get shots that really capture the essence of what I want, or is it going to be an abstract shot-filled take that is mostly impersonal?'
what gets me over this occasional freak out is knowing that we hired an amazing photographer. she has a real eye and as long as we tell her what we want (the 'must take' list, as it were), we will get in essence what we are looking for. we will have beautiful shots, some will undoubtedly be artistic and look like they could hang in a gallery show, but in the end, we will have photographs that will capture the story and the feel of the day.
also frankly, we have given our deposit and since we are not made of money and are paying for the entire she-bang on our meager Federal Gov't salaries and savings, there is no turning back now for us.
I know everyone else said to go with your gut, and I think that is right, but you also need to be analytical about this. You are paying for a work product. Yes, it is subjective, but you are paying for it. If you have concerns, you should go over to their studio and ask to go through some more of their albums (you could even just say you are looking for more cool shot ideas to add to your list of must takes). You should do a search of the boards for their epics, their wedding shots, and i would even do a general google search and you may come up with some kid's birthday party they did or a review of them in that sense. Do your very thorough research before calling off the contract and starting afresh. But at the end of the day, if you have a queasy feeling b/c you have them and not someone else, yes, you need to act on that and see what can be done.

I feel the same way! I keep having doubts about everything. about a month at a time then it goes away. it's a bride thing.

my fiend is using velvet and loved their work. she booked them because they were one of the few ph's using film. she met with them a few weeks ago and was told they are digital now. to me their works looks great, but this will have to be your decision.

I also agree... You start to worry about Everything.. I Booked Velvet and before i had my engagement pic's i wont lie i had a doubt But after i got my Photos back I KNOW I MADE the Right CHOICE Bob is awesome the work they do is great.. I would talk to them and explain what you want & how you feel...
