FH and I got engaged at St. Anthony's Church in NYC, we would love to have a reception hall near or in Manhattan so that we can marry in the Church where it all started!! I found out about Douglaston Mannor in Douglaston which is only 20 min without traffic from the church...does anyone know anything good/bad/ugly about Douglaston Mannor???
Stressing out with this as we might have to rethink this romantic idea due to other NYC locations needing us to donate our organs in order to pay the prices!!

This is one of the RHs I looked at for my wedding. The grounds and inside areas are both very pretty. You definitely have the opportunity for some nice outdoor photos and an outdoor ceremony/ cocktail hour in good weather. Also, the price was quite good.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but you got engaged at St. Anthony's in Manhattan? Cause there's no human way you would make it to Douglaston Manor in 20 minutes unless you get married at 2am. And then it's a maybe. It's east of where I live and I couldn't get from Manhattan to my house in 20 minutes.
Not that it's not doable, and Douglaston Manor is very pretty and has nice prices, but I bet if being close is important to you you can find something closer. It's just not right around the corner, is all I mean.
