Re: Douglaston Manor

FH and I went there when I was still looking at catering halls. We both did not like it AT ALL. It was definitely not what we were looking for. It was very affordable and the manager we spoke to was very nice.

Re: Douglaston Manor

I thought it loked like a house and very run down. He mentioned something about a curtain being somewhere, and that is where I completely blocked him out. I walked in and the doorway would never be able to let my dress through. They had good parking. It was too much wood. I wanted something MUCH more elegant. I had a friend who had his commitment ceremony there and he LOVED it so it defintely depends on the person. You should defintely go look for yourself, so you will never second guess yourself.

Re: Douglaston Manor

You're right! I'll call tonight - I am not wearing the huge gown - I can tell, it's not me so the party is going to be more of less-formal thing - esp. since the parents are talking, a sit down dinner is looking less appealing!

We are on a tight budget and I am going crazy trying to find decent places that are reasonable - thanks for all the info!

Re: Douglaston Manor

You have to leave a message and they will eventually call you back. OR call in the evening when someone will be there to answer the phone.

I did check the place out. I thought parts of it were nice and parts of it were run down. Although they did tell me that they were renovating it shortly. It just wasnt for me!

However, the prices were good.

Re: Douglaston Manor

FI and I looked at Douglaston Manor and it just was not for us. I did not like the layout at all. The room we would have had looked rundown and dirty. But I know someone who was married there two years ago and loved it.

Also they are doing quite a bit of renovations but when we where there no date was set for them.
