We ultimately had our wedding elsewhere, but DM was our second choice. We did a food tasting there (in a back room) during an actual wedding and it was delicious! (Seriously - and food was REALLY important to us)

Hi Helenz. Huge contrats! Your pictures look great. We are inviting 140 guests so I am anticipating 125. I still want to book the ballroom though. What did you think of the glass room?
Were your pictures on the golf course at DM?
We are going to have our ceremony at DM if we book with them.

Hi Kara
Where did you end up having your wedding? Why was DM your second choice? I am definately feeling more confident about the food at DM. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Re: douglaston manor

Hello,
When i was looking for a hall I was considering Douglaston Manor seriously up until the point that I gave a deposit, though a month later I had to change my mind bc it was too far from the ceremony place that I was considering at the time. I've heard for a fact that the food is absolutely wonderful and that they do give alot. So if you are considering DM, I would go for it.

Also, if you are considering them and will be putting down money, would it be possibly that we could switch deposit? I spoke to Thomas there who said that that can happen only if the booking couple agrees. I would so appreciate the favor if anyone is about to book or who is still paying installments.

Hi. If we book with DM that sounds fine. We should know within the next couple of weeks. Thomas is away this week so we plan to go for tasting and iron out details next weekend. We are considering two other places so I will let you know definately soon. I'll look out for your postings.
Take care!

not that I'm speaking on Kara's behalf, but I happen to know that halls that only accomodated one wedding at a time was a big deciding factor for her!! When I booked DM I knew that was a risk I was taking of not being the only wedding that night.....I just happened to get lucky! Go to the next expo, you won't regret it!!

oh and some of my pictures in my album are from Douglaston, but the ones at the park w/ the bridge in the background, that's Francis Lewis Park. I knew at DM I could take pics in the pathways or on the putting green but I didn't want to be limited with where we could go. (with Douglaston especially in September, golf is still pretty active on the course, so there is a liability w/ allowing pics to be taken on the course w/ games going on and clubs being swung!! if I would've tried going out there, I probably would've been the first bride to be wacked in the head by a golf ball or something!! I'll definitely keep you posted when I get professional pics, as there will be a lot more from DM in there.

Honestly that is my concern with DM. The rooms seem too close together separated by a seemingly light door. I am going there again this weekend so I will get the specifics. Do you think Thomas negotiates minimums? I really want the ballroom.

I'm having my wedding there on August 1st, 2009 in the Grand Room. I love love love love it!!!!! I especially wanted a place that did not look like a catering hall and I feel that DM has a more regal feel to it.

My BM is Sam and so far I like him A LOT!!!!!! He has been super helpful with everything!

I did not do the all inclusive b/c I don't like being tied down to certain vendors.

I also, went to the Showcase on the 20th. I was a little upset that they ran out of forks!?! But other than that everything was set up beautifully and the food was delicious.
