douglaston manor

Hi! I am new to message boards. I am interested in getting married at Douglaston Manor in 08'. Can anyone vouch for the quality of the food? Also concerned about having our reception in the glass room while another function is going on in the ballroom.
Thanks!

I'm having my reception at Douglaston Manor. We booked the Grand room with access to the terrace for the whole night. I was recommended to DM by a few people. The food is delicious with a large menu to choose from. You should ask them about any concerns you have about the Glass Room. Everyone there has been very nice and Thomas is wonderful to work with.
Good Luck

I'm getting married there in 3 weeks. I can't wait. They just had their bridal expo on Sept 20th too. You should check their site for updates on upcoming shows. I think they have them 2 a year, once in Sept and then again in January.

The food is really good and they have a great selection. I may be biased, but I think they are amazing. The views and Chris is my BM, he's awesome. I have some pics of the outside with my FH in my album.

Also keep watch out for HelenZ, she was married there on Sept 15th. I'm sure she'll post a review.

Thanks! I am excited about possibly booking the venue. We wanted the ballroom but don't know if we can make the minimum guarantee. Will keep you posted! Thanks again!

I didn't do the all-inclusive package. I didn't book for as many guest as that required.
I'm using Ariana Studios and the Wedding Plaza. I love the photos Ariana takes. I had gone to them before I even booked Douglaston Manor.
Are you thinking of booking the all-inclusive?

No, I didn't have that many quest to get it. We're going with a buffet style instead of the sit down dinner. We wanted a little bit more relaxed feel. Everyone usually enjoys the CH, so we decided that was the way to go.

I think that's a great deal though.

We are thinking about it..its so tempting..but would have to really check out the vendors. Music is very important to us so we might want to shop around more. I am going to see how flexible Thomas is on the ballroom minimum. What did you think of the glass room?

I loved it, but I thought that they changed it. The tree used to be inside the room. Now they blocked it totally out. I thought that it made the room more interesting. I have to look at some of the other pics I have.

Sorry Cocktail Hour. I had to look it up myself when I first started in the Chat Lingo.

The glass room was nice. Don't remember a tree though. My concern was that it was too small for 120 people. Im going to see if Thomas can work with us on getting the ballroom.

What do you think?

The Glass Room is for 100 to 150 people, so it should be fine

Re: douglaston manor

hey drdre.....I just got married there 2 weeks ago and the food was great, the service was OUTSTANDING, and I was thrilled when I got there to see I was the ONLY party that night!!! YAY!!! we had a guarantee of 150 for the main ballroom, but I had a few no shows and I think it came out to something like 140 (and they didn't charge me extra- but I guess it might've worked out b/c it prob. covered my vendors meals, since they didn't charge me for those on the night of).

let me ask you, when you say 120 guests, are you inviting 120, or is that how many you think will come? we invited 200, and had 140ish.....so always anticipate that you will have some no's, especially if you have a lot of OOTer's (out of towners.....I see that your new to the boards, so I won't acronym you to death!!

FM me w/ any questions......I'm more than happy to help the DM brides!!

btw, I have some non professional pics in my album (click on my profile)
