Douglaston Manor Visit
Hey ladies!
I took my first step towards marraige - visiting a RH!
I definitely don't want a traditional hall and with my guest count possibly being under 100, our choices are limtied so I checked out Douglaston Manor last night.
The decor inside and out has a very nice spanish feel to it - not cheesy spanish, but classic spanish style house.
The main ballroom is lovely with high wood beams and big spanish windows.
Then the outside area over looks a beautiful gold course and you can actually see the manhattan skyline! Then there is a second upstairs ballroom which can be used for an indoor ceremony that has a beautiful country feel to it since there are a bunch of skylights and wood EVERYWHERE!
Thomas, the manager was helpful in pointing out a small renovation that was underway and to be completed in 3 months. They are resurfacing a middle loung area that leads to the bathrooms. They are also redoing the bathrooms to include 7 or 8 stalls each.
The bridal suites were lovely. At the time of my visit, there was a junior prom going on so I couldnt see the main ballroom with all the lights on, but it looked nice!
The only thing I didnt like was the 'glass room' it was kinda of dated and felt like a restaurant for a cocktail space. But they had a lovely outdoor space for cocktail hour which I would consider if we had a fall or spring wedding.
Overall the price seemed good - my FH and I will have to come back and try the food to see how things go.
My next trips are to visit 2 private beach clubs (one in atlantic beach and the other in Larchmont, Westchester). I am also considering Mohonk Mountain house for a winter wedding...to be continued!
